Liu Yang
1. Liu Yang, China's first female astronaut. On June 29, 2016, the Shenzhou 9 spacecraft returned to Earth safely, and 33-year-old Liu Yang was awarded the honorary title of "Heroic Astronaut", after which she gradually faded from the public eye.
Sally Ryder
2. Sally Ryder, the first female astronaut in the United States. On June 18, 1983, Sally Ryder joined the STS-7 mission of the Space Shuttle Challenger at the age of 32. She works as a flight engineer and is responsible for operating the shuttle's robotic arms. On July 24, 2012, female astronaut Sally Ryder died at the age of 61 after 17 months of battling pancreatic cancer.
