Touching the night talk, every day nonsense and game-related farts, ghost things, new things.

I've been playing Vampire Survivors for the last two days, a Castlevania Art-style Rougelike game that manipulates a protagonist who resembles a moving turret and fires a barrage of bullets to destroy vampires and demons pouring out of the screen. Monsters in the game will drop gems after being destroyed, the player picks them up and gets experience points to upgrade the character, and then use more powerful skills to continue to destroy the monsters, kill the monsters and upgrade the character... Then the cycle goes, and the player gets pleasure from the process.

The value "poof" exploded, it was very magical...

While it sounds a bit monotonous, Vampire Survivor is quite fun. In my opinion, its temperament is a bit like "Loop Warrior", this type of game has a mysterious magic, you can't tell why it's fun, but you get started playing for a while and then you are sucked in. When I bought the game, I paid attention to the evaluation data on Steam, and there were more than 30,000 reviews at that time, and the praise rate was as high as 99%. When I wrote this night talk, I looked at it again, and the number of reviews was more, but the praise rate also went down a little.

I've also been playing a few other games lately, one of which is KINGDOM of the DEAD — a first-person shooter with a retro hardcore FPS design with no squats and bullet changes. This design pays homage to the classics on the one hand, and on the other hand, it also makes the battle more direct. Set on a remote East Coast of the United States, the player is an agent tasked with defeating death and an army of demons under his command. Needless to say, Empire of Death is also a genre that values weapons, levels, and gameplay, and has a relatively simple story.

In fact, the atmosphere of "Empire of Death" is very good, cold and terrifying

I don't play games very picky, or even the opposite, and I like to find some weird things to play. Sometimes lucky to find some good indie games, Vampire Survivor and Empire of the Dead are two of them. When I think about it, I also played a lot of similar "retro games" - in fact, I'm not sure which category to classify them, but in short, retro games do not have "tall" pursuits, such as narrative, expression, breaking the dimensional wall, etc. These are all elaborate designs, and I don't mean that these designs are bad, but this is a later concept.

When I say that the game is not only nostalgic, the purpose of the game seems to jump back to decades ago - the game, fun on the line, figure a "cool" word. According to my feelings, there is a trend of these kinds of games gradually decreasing, at least the number of "big productions" is less, and the only thing that may be in the past two years is the "Doom" series. I can occasionally see some on the Steam homepage, all of which are the volume of indie games, mostly old-school FPS, aiming and moving with a flowing feel, which can make people think of classic works in the moment of getting started. I guessed that half of the producer's purpose was to make a game, and the other half was to satisfy his nostalgia.

Such a change can also be understood, video games have developed all the way, but also always have to think about "can you do something". Literary and artistic works are almost always like this, and after being recognized in areas such as business, they turn to pursuing something "unpredictious"—that is, expression, which may not be common in old games. From another point of view, with the advancement of technology, the threshold for the creation of games has dropped, there are more individual creators, and their works are more likely to appear in some ingenuity and self-expression that are not in the large-scale production of the industry.

So, which one is better? Not absolute, but I tend to be narrative, I prefer a smooth and elegant story rhythm, and the gameplay is not too elaborate at many times, even as long as it is just reasonable. However, I often encounter situations where I know a good story, but because the game system is immature, it is difficult to advance. There are also some games on the market, the gameplay is very simple, it is difficult to get fun directly from it, but the effort in atmosphere and narrative has also won the praise of players. At the end of the day, it may still be a matter of opinion.

The miscellaneous ideas of this night talk are all extended from retro games. Looking back, there are also irreplaceable things in the mode of old games, I like to try different games, and the fact that browsing different types of games makes me feel happy in itself. To be honest, occasionally do not consider the storyline, nor do you consider wanting to convey anything in the work, just slashing monsters and brushing pictures, which is also quite good.
