Giving up a carefree life, starting from the most basic trainees, and debuting as an artist step by step, this decision may be the most bold and rebellious choice in Duan Yien's life.
In 2014, Duan Yi'en, who had practiced for three years, debuted in South Korea as a member of the GOT7 group, with his handsome appearance, super difficult MAT stunts and subwoofer rap circle fans. In the past 5 years since its debut, GOT7 has not only gained a firm foothold in South Korea, but also gained high popularity in other countries and regions.
Defined by the debut year, Duan Yien is already a mature idol, but in the Chinese entertainment industry, he is still just a newcomer. For the first time, there were no teammates to support each other, alone; it was still an unfamiliar environment, unskilled language; the entertainment industry ecology was completely different from the Hallyu... For Duan Yien, there are many difficulties to face when he comes to China for development, but he is still willing to overcome the pressure and appear in everyone's vision as a newcomer.

It's crazy to be busy, but the thought of fans has endless energy
In 2019, it should be the year that Duan Yien officially launched his Activities in China, in addition to shooting magazines and variety shows, he also opened the first personal fan meeting, produced the first personal photo "Mark Yixia", and opened the first personal signing meeting.
As his domestic itineraries grew, he also needed to digest GOT7's group activities, including the promotion of the new album and the months-long world tour.
On July 20, Duan Yien's first solo fan meeting was held at the Nanjing Sun Palace Theater, but he was left with less than a day to rehearse. Because on July 19, he had just finished GOT7's South American and North American 7 region tour, and took a long-distance flight for more than ten hours from Los Angeles to Nanjing. After getting off the plane, Duan Yi'en, who strived for perfection, rushed to the scene non-stop and rehearsed until late at night, which shows the importance he attaches to the first personal meeting.
On September 13, it was the Mid-Autumn Festival, and Duan Yi'en also spent it in rehearsals, but this time he was much more at ease and more relaxed than in Nanjing. He admitted that the Nanjing meeting was the first one, so he was very nervous at the time, worried that he would not be able to do it well, but with the first experience, he could already enjoy the stage at the Chengdu meeting.
At the meeting, Duan Yien not only sang songs such as "OMW", "Let Me", "My Home", "Outta My Head" and other songs that he participated in, but also brought two popular Chinese songs such as "Model" and "Confession Balloon", showing the tender side of the subwoofer rapper. In fact, Duan Yien's Chinese is not very good, and the lyrics are written word by word against pinyin, but in order to present the best stage to the fans, he still takes time out of the busy schedule to prepare.
He said that it was the fans who gave him endless energy, whether it was the video help prepared by the fans or the birthday surprise, he could feel the full love of everyone and always have a grateful heart. In order not to live up to the fans' liking, he will also work harder to let everyone see a better and more handsome Duan Yien.
Xiaonan: How does it feel to go to Chengdu to open a Fan Meeting this time? Compared with the last Fan Meeting in Nanjing, what is the change in mood?
Duan Yien: The last time I was in Nanjing, because it was the first one, I was very nervous and worried that I would not be able to do it well. This time Chengdu relaxed a lot, enjoyed the Chengdu stage this time, especially happy.
Xiaonan: Is there anything special about the preparation process?
Duan Yien: While preparing for this meet-up meeting, we also had 2 tours in the preparation of GOT7, and both sides had to prepare at the same time, so it was crazy busy at the time, but the thought of being able to meet with fans and play together had endless energy! The songs selected at the meeting are all songs that I have participated in the production of, and I hope you like them
Xiaonan: How does it feel to meet Chinese fans up close?
Duan Yien: There are more than 300 fans at this Chinese signing party, and it is really happy to have close contact with so many Chinese fans, and many people have rushed to see me from other places, thank you very much
Development in China: To study hard to Chinese, but also to challenge the performance
Born in Los Angeles to a Chinese family, Duan Yien has his own Chinese name and has learned some Chinese from his parents' education, but for him, China is a strange and familiar country.
Duan Yien said that the earliest memory of China is the Great Wall, and when he was working in Beijing at the beginning of this year, he went to climb the Great Wall with his parents and saw the Great Wall with his own eyes, which he felt was particularly spectacular.
Coming to China for development is a choice that makes Duan Yien nervous and looking forward to it. The first hurdle he had to overcome was Chinese. In the previous variety show, Chinese is not skilled, he does not dare to speak, a program can not say a few words, Duan Yi'en more talk also on Weibo hot search, it can be seen that fans are broken hearts.
At that time, Duan Yien made a self-deprecating response with memes on Weibo, on the other hand, he also deeply felt his own inadequacy.
In addition to trying to learn Chinese, Duan Yi'en has a lot of things he wants to try, especially challenging performance. Duan Yien: The activities in China are still very interesting, and everyone is very enthusiastic and takes good care of me. But my Chinese wasn't good enough, there were a lot of deficiencies, and I wanted to study hard again Chinese. After that, I would like to try to perform under the challenge.
Xiaonan: What is the next development plan in China?
Duan Yien: I have filmed some magazines in China before and participated in several variety shows, but this personal photo album and fan meeting is a starting point, which is very meaningful to me. Although I don't know what the next activities are, there will definitely be more activities to meet with you. In the future, I will work harder and hope to have more good opportunities.
