The good physical and psychological qualities laid down by years of martial arts training have made Ran Hongyun emerge quickly after the transfer. In October 2018, just four months after practicing skiing, she won the bronze medal in the women's double board slew pursuit at the New Zealand National Junior Ski Championships, and in April 2019, she won the freestyle sculpting at the US National Championships, becoming China's leader in this event.
In the qualification selection of the Winter Olympic Games, Ran Hongyun not only met the points standard of the International Snow Federation, but also ranked first among Chinese athletes, thus obtaining the ticket to participate in the Beijing Winter Olympic Games. In the previous Winter Olympics, no Chinese athlete had ever stood on the field of the freestyle ski tracking, so he was able to qualify for the Winter Olympics, and Ran Hongyun had already made history.
The Freestyle Ski Slalom Pursuit is a racing event, with more than 1,000 meters of track, with different obstacles such as slalom, jumping, and breaking waves, and the one with less time wins. Due to the complexity of the track and the extremely fast speed of the race, the skiing technology and adaptability of the players are extremely demanding, and the obstacle course is also the ice and snow event with the largest proportion of injuries among the players, which is a veritable "brave sport".
