On 15 February 2022, the Snooker Welsh Open Qualifiers officially began. Only six matches were played on the first day, and no Chinese players appeared. "Welsh Dragon" Matthew Stevens played well, advancing with Jimmy Robertson, Robbie Williams, Mark Joyce and others.
The Welsh Open will take place in Newport from 28 February to 6 March. In this week's qualifying round, all TOP16 players and their opponents will be entitled to the postponement of the qualifying round to the main tournament, and all the remaining players will need to win a 4-steal match before they can qualify for the main tournament.
