Beijing time this morning: The 2024 World Snooker Championship has concluded one of the first-round battles, with 28th-ranked Scotland player Stephen Maguire defeating ninth-ranked seed Ali Carter 10-7 in two stages.
This is Maguire's 20th year at the World Championships, with his best results so far in the semi-finals in 2007 and 2012, and he has qualified for the quarter-finals of the World Championships five times.
