In order to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Mexico and the 15th anniversary of the friendship city between Gansu Province and The Mexican state of Coahuila, on the evening of February 14, many landmark buildings such as the Zhongshan Bridge in Lanzhou City lit up the main colors of the Chinese red and Mexican flags, showing the friendship between the Chinese and Mexican people, and sending good wishes for the Beijing Winter Olympics.
Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Mexico in 1972, under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, bilateral relations between China and Mexico have developed in an all-round and rapid manner, political mutual trust has been significantly strengthened, and cooperation in various fields has yielded fruitful results. In the face of century-old changes and the epidemic of the century, China and Mexico are in the same boat, watching out for each other, and the friendship between the two countries has been sublimated.
In the evening, 15 pairs of sister cities (provinces) such as Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Anhui, Guangdong, Gansu, Hangzhou, Sichuan, Wuhan, Qingdao, Fujian, Xiamen, Nanchang, Hebei, Shijiazhuang, Wuxi, Jiangsu and Fengdu County of Chongqing, as well as Mexico City, Cancun and Guadalajara, the capital of Mexico, lit up the main colors of the Chinese red and Mexican flags in their respective landmark buildings, jointly showing the friendship between the Chinese and Mexican people through half a century.
The event, jointly sponsored by the Chinese Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the Mexican Embassy in China, was the first time that Chinese and foreign sister cities jointly celebrated the anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in a bright lighting manner.
