Doncic agreed to an early extension with the Lone Rangers, a five-year, 207 million player option for the final year

Luka Doncic today agreed to complete an early renewal with the Lone Ranger for $207 million over five years, ESPN reported. This contract includes player options for the final year.

Doncic, 22, one of the most accomplished young players in NBA history, is rapidly developing into the league's top man, having been named to the Team of the Year twice and the first player in the Class of 2018 to qualify for a designated rookie top salary contract.

In order to renew Doncic's contract, the Lone Rangers sent a team including boss Mark Cuban, general manager Nico Harrison, head coach Jason Kidd, assistant general manager Michael Finley and senior adviser Dirk Nowitzki to Slovenia, and finally made the trip worthwhile, reaching an agreement with Doncic, who had just finished his Olympic journey.

Doncic said in a statement: "Today my dream came true. Basketball has given me so much and taken me to so many magical places. I feel lucky and excited to stay in Dallas as a member of the Lone Rangers, and I thank the fans for their support. ”

"In addition to this new contract, I am pleased to announce that I will expand my efforts to focus on expanding the Luka Dončić Foundation. My foundation is an international nonprofit that will give back to places that mean a lot to me, such as my native Slovenia, and communities in Northern Texas. ”

"I am delighted to be working with the 2K Foundation and we will soon be unveiling two basketball courts in Slovenia. We're renovating the court I was a kid on, and that's where I learned and practiced basketball. It excites me that the kids had the opportunity to play on the same court and pursue the dreams I once had. ”
