According to The Athletic Hawks reporter Chris Kirschner, the "connection" between the Hawks and Simmons was very close in the weeks leading up to the deadline, with the Atlanta team offering chips such as John Collins, Bogdan Bogdan Bogdanovic and draft picks to the 76ers.
