New product | British Wilson Benesch Kingchi releases reference series speaker Omniium (Little Pope)

Wilson Benesch is a leader in the design and manufacture of high-performance loudspeakers, and today we saw the release of its new reference series of speakers, the Omnium

Modular design

Omnium continues to be built with Wilson Benesch's "modular design" philosophy, which Wilson Benesch added when he released the groundbreaking Odyssey collection in 2001. For each new design, the modular design is based on its original foundation for optimization. Just like the Porsche 911, it is not a single design, but a heritage and evolution of a pedigree, continuous improvement over 30 years of experience, with the goal of pursuing truly world-class audio replay.

"Next Generation Advanced Composites Technology" - SSUCHY

The world's first "green speaker" SSUCHY project is a green production plan launched by Jinchi in 2017, and Omnium speaker is one of the deliverables of its project. The project, which invested $7.4 million in Europe, brings together 13 universities, 4 SMEs and several blue-chip companies to collaborate and innovate. Its goal is to provide the cutting-edge science and materials technology needed for a circular economy – its mission is to replace non-recyclable materials made from petroleum-based manufacturing and provide the next generation of recyclable material technologies.

High performance enclosures

SSUCHY brings together scientists from all over Europe who are at the forefront of the development of the field. Using their engineering expertise, scientists pass the application of novel materials. Created Wilson Benesch's latest A.C.T. 3Zero cabinet material technology. This advanced composite technology structure is the largest single component in the Wilson Benesch speaker enclosure and is the core technology of the new generation of loudspeakers. According to the data provided, there is a geometric progression increase in stiffness and damping compared to the previous generation A.C.T. cabinet.

Wilson Benesch signature technology FIBONACCI treble

Wilson Benesch tweeter technology is based on a Semisphere tweeter design made of carbon fiber in 2012. The Fibonacci tweeter panel is made of carbon fiber composite structure with a geometrically optimized waveguide design and a Silk-Carbon hybrid dome tweeter. The panel is partially separated from the voice coil and chassis for a flat frequency response and ultra-wide diffusion, with optimal articulation and phase characteristics when paired with the Tactic 3.0 midrange driver.

Tactic 3.0 driver unit

The Tactic 3.0 drivers feature a cone disc unit made of woven carbon fiber, while the MW driver features a split-no-part, direct amplifier-coupled design. This direct cross-link technology is designed for zero phase distortion.

Isobaric Drive System (IDS)

The Main Low Frequency Loads of omnium are provided by a range of isobaric drive systems. Here, the two drive units are combined to form a face-to-face structure, and the diaphragm of one drive unit works in a push-pull structure to the other unit diaphragm.

Carbon fiber composites

By removing the planar reflective surface in the cabinet as much as possible and creating a complex curved structure, the sound waves get good scattering when they hit the speaker shell, so that the reflective energy is reduced and unnecessary reflected sound is minimized. The Omnium owes much to the curved carbon composite form at the top and the ACT 3Zero cabinet structure.

Solid aluminium base

The stepped base on the Omnium foot is a reference for its flagship model, the Epinence Pope. Manufactured by Wilson Benesch from CNC in a single aluminum blank, the 80 kg solid aluminum billet was reduced by more than half, resulting in a 38 kg Omnium speaker foot.
