Beijing, March 29 (Xinhua) -- Comrade Jiang Yi, former vice chairman of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, secretary of the Secretariat, and member of the party leading group (ministerial treatment), died in Beijing on March 9, 2021 at the age of 98 due to illness.

After the death of Comrade Jiang Yi, the relevant leading comrades of the central authorities expressed their condolences in different ways and expressed their condolences to their relatives.

Jiang Yi was born in December 1922 in Heshun, Shanxi. In October 1937, he joined the revolutionary work. He joined the Communist Party of China in February 1938. Since October 1939, he has successively served as the chairman of the Taiyue District Youth Anti-Japanese National Salvation Association, and the secretary of the Youth Committee of the Taiyue District Committee of the Communist Party of China. From August 1949, he successively served as secretary general and deputy secretary of the North China Working Committee of the Youth League. In October 1954, he was appointed vice chairman of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Federation of Trade Unions, member of the Standing Committee of the Cpc Baotou Municipal Committee, and vice chairman of the Baotou Federation of Trade Unions. Since January 1958, he has successively served as vice chairman and secretary of the party group of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Federation of Trade Unions, chairman and secretary of the party group and acting secretary of the Baosteel Committee of the Communist Party of China, and the head of the Heavy Industry Bureau of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Revolutionary Committee. In March 1971, he was appointed first secretary of the Bayannaoer League Committee of the Communist Party of China and director of the Bayannaoer League Revolutionary Committee. In June 1974, he was appointed first secretary of the Hohhot Railway Bureau Committee of the Communist Party of China and director of the Revolutionary Committee of the Hohhot Railway Bureau. In October 1978, he was appointed as a member of the Standing Committee and Secretary-General of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Committee of the Communist Party of China. In May 1982, he was appointed Secretary of the Secretariat of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions and a member of the Party Group. In October 1983, he was appointed Vice Chairman of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, Secretary of the Secretariat, and Member of the Party Group. He retired in July 1994.

Jiang Yi is a member of the Sixth National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
