At 6:00 a.m. on December 27, the police of the Nankou Police Station of the Shishou City Public Security Bureau received a police report that someone had illegally fished in the Yangtze River section of Nankou Town. After the fishing boat docked, the police immediately went forward to control the suspect and inspected the small boat.

After investigation, the suspect Zhou Mou was from Nankou Town, and he confessed that he used the early morning hours to go to the Yangtze River to cast nets and fish. After inspection, Zhou used a large fishing net with very small eyes to catch more than 60 kilograms of large and small fish, including osmanthus fish, grass carp, and bream, including a cochineal fish listed in the national second-level wild protection. In view of the fact that the suspect Zhou Mou used a prohibited tool to illegally fish during the national fishing ban period, suspected of constituting the crime of illegal fishing for aquatic products, the police have taken compulsory measures.

Joint market supervision and other departments conduct surprise inspections of key locations such as aquatic product markets and restaurants through household visits and on-site inspections, so as to achieve no river fish on the shore. Public security organs pay close attention to "catching, purchasing, selling" and other links, destroying criminal networks and dens throughout the chain, resolutely cutting off the underground industrial chain of illegal fishing, and strongly supporting the orderly development of the work of banning fishing in the Yangtze River Basin.

At present, the Shishou City Public Security Bureau has investigated 36 criminal cases of illegal fishing, arrested 64 suspects of illegal crimes, confiscated 157 sets of prohibited fishing gear "ground cages", confiscated 37 illegal fishing "three noes" vessels, 7 sets of electric fishing equipment, and seized more than 200 kilograms of fish. Among them, the case of Yu Mouquan's illegal fishing of aquatic products was listed by the Ministry of Public Security as a supervision case of "comprehensive rectification of prominent public security problems in the waters of the Yangtze River trunk line", and the number of snails caught was large, the number of defendants sentenced was large, and the number of compensation for ecological restoration fees was high, which was also rare in similar cases in the country.
