On July 5, the Guangxi Fangchenggang Border Management Detachment informed the outside world that recently, the Naliang Border Police Station of the detachment cracked a case of smuggling precious animals and their products, in which a total of 6267 dried seahorses and 136 totoaba fish glue in the Gulf of California were seized, with a total case value of 5.24 million yuan.
At about 10:00 a.m. on May 11 this year, the police of the Fangcheng Border Patrol and Control Team of the Guangxi Fangchenggang Border Management Detachment were on duty at the border line in Naliang Town when they suddenly found an electric tricycle sneaking out of the border road, full of items. Based on their work experience, the police believed that the vehicle might be suspected of smuggling and immediately pursued the tricycle.
After a period of pursuit, the police found that the tricycle was finally parked in a private house, and the items on the car had been transferred. The police immediately checked the surrounding environment, and soon searched out 3 bags of fish glue on a nearby off-road vehicle, and searched for 1 bag of dried seahorse in the kitchen of the house, and arrested 2 suspects suspected of shipping the goods. Subsequently, the police handed over the case to the Nara Border Police Station for handling.

Back at the police station, the police counted and identified the seized items and found that there were 6267 seahorse stems, with a general length of 14 centimeters and a case value of 940,000 yuan. The seahorse is listed in Appendix II of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, which is a national second-level protected wild animal; 136 fish glues were found, which is a dried product of totoaba maw in the Gulf of California, with a case value of 4.3 million yuan. The Gulf of California totoaba is listed in Appendix I of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora and is a nationally protected wildlife. After investigation, the criminal suspects in the case, Liao X and Lin X, were hired by others to smuggle dried seahorses and fish glue into the country in order to obtain benefits, and both of them confessed to their criminal acts. On June 30, the suspect Lin was arrested with the approval of the Fangcheng District People's Procuratorate, and Liao was criminally detained in May, and the case is under further investigation.
