On February 10th, the competition of the wonderful alpine skiing men's all-around downhill event was held intensely at the National Alpine Ski Center "Snow Flying Swallow". Due to the speed of the descent, one athlete fell and was injured during the competition. At the same time, the helicopter rescue team and the medical support team of the designated hospital jointly launched a rescue that raced against time.

At about 11:50 a.m., the Helicopter Rescue Team of the National Alpine Ski Center received instructions that a foreign athlete was injured in the men's all-around speed skating event, and the initial diagnosis was an open fracture of the left forearm, which needed to be transported by helicopter for treatment. The Municipal Red Cross Helicopter Medical Support Team quickly arrived at the scene after receiving rescue instructions. From take-off from the helicopter to the time the injured person is admitted to the consultation room, it takes a total of 12 minutes.

"Although the injured person is not life-threatening, the injury is still relatively serious." Zhou Fang, executive director of Yanqing Hospital of the Third Hospital of Beijing Medical College, said that after the medical security team carried out emergency treatment of the injured person, the operation began at about 17:00 on the same day. There were a total of 7 large and small fractures of the injured, and the medical staff also found a ruptured radial artery during the operation. The fracture combined with the rupture of the artery exacerbated the already complicated injury, and the operation lasted more than 7 hours, ending at nearly 1 a.m. on the 11th.

"Fortunately, the operation was timely, otherwise the follow-up would seriously affect the function of the hand." Zhou Fang said.

At present, the injured athletes are in a stable condition, "recovering well, and thanking us for our timely treatment." Zhou Fang said that next, the medical security team will continue to pay attention to the recovery of the injured person's injury, avoid the emergence of infection, and guide him to recover.
