What you see now is that it is currently the largest photovoltaic power generation base in China, with an area of 609 square kilometers, close to the size of an area of Singapore. This is currently the largest photovoltaic power generation base in China: Qinghai Taratan Photovoltaic Power Station.

TaraTan, Gonghe County, Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, was once a semi-desertified grassland with a desertified land area accounting for 98.5% of the total land area, which was not only deserted, but also seriously endangered the safety of the surrounding Yellow River ecological zone. However, as Qinghai Province began to vigorously promote the development of the photovoltaic industry, the animal husbandry industry here has continued to develop, the ecology is gradually recovering, and even the economy has further developed.
Located at the southern end of the Qaidam Basin, Qinghai Gonghe County not only has an average altitude of nearly 3,000 meters, but also has a serious lack of oxygen content, only 64% of the plains, and the rainfall in Tara Beach here is still very rare, and the precipitation cannot even meet the daily growth needs of the bushes.
Therefore, more than a decade ago, it can be said that there is no grass here, and the vast Gobi and the flying sand and dust are the most common scenes here. In order to maintain their livelihood, the herders here had to move elsewhere and choose a more lush place for cattle and sheep.
However, the high altitude of Tara Beach also means that it is closer to the sun and has more daily life. Most parts of Qinghai province have an average annual sunshine of about 1600 hours, while Tara Beach is even worse, which has a unique advantage in photovoltaic power generation.
So in 2012, the first 10-million-kilowatt solar power base on the mainland began to be built in Tara Beach, from the initial 77.9 square kilometers, to the present, the total area has reached 609.6 square kilometers, what is this concept? It is about the same size as Singapore. Because of this, Qinghai Taratan Photovoltaic Power Station has become the largest photovoltaic power generation base in China.
In the Taratan photovoltaic power station in Qinghai, rows of solar photovoltaic modules are arranged in concentric circles, and they follow the sun like sunflowers, not only replacing the bare sand and gravel ground, but also acting as a barrier and reducing the wind speed here. The shadow part of the photovoltaic panel can also reduce the evaporation of moisture, and the amount of reduction is even as high as 30%.
In addition, the fact that photovoltaic panels need to be cleaned regularly also increases the amount of watering, because the water that seeps down during cleaning is like regularly watering the plants here. Therefore, the grass on Tara Beach slowly grew, and the longer the grass, the better, coupled with the soil, light and other conditions here, planted with highland ecological crops such as snow chrysanthemums and bone-penetrating grass, the overall ecological environment has been greatly improved.
In addition, because the grass is too good to grow, the height has affected the photovoltaic power generation, and when the dry matter is dry in winter, the existence of a large number of hay and the safety hazard of fire. So the enterprises in the Taratan photovoltaic power station park have thought of a solution, that is, to call on the surrounding herders to raise "photovoltaic sheep" in the photovoltaic power station park.
This not only plays a role in weeding and eliminating fire hazards, but also saves the cost and cost of weeding, so that nearby herders can increase their economic income by raising "photovoltaic sheep" without moving elsewhere. After the herders put the sheep in, basically do not have to care much, after all, the amount of grass and grass quality in the park is nothing to say, the sheep can easily grow to fat and strong in it, which is naturally very popular in the market, and it is difficult to sell it for a good price.
In addition, herders can further increase their income by helping the park clean photovoltaic panels and battery modules on a regular basis.
Today, the average annual power generation of the photovoltaic industry in Qinghai Province is as high as 80 million kWh, and the power supply of these clean energy can not only meet the consumption of the province, but also be transported to Jiangsu, Henan and other places, and also drive nearly 1.2 million public welfare poverty alleviation jobs, helping the economic collective of the local poor villages to further develop.
Looking down at the current Tara Beach Photovoltaic Park from above, between the rows of neat solar photovoltaic modules is lush grass, and a flock of sheep leisurely shuttles back and forth in it, the scene is very beautiful.
