Legend has it that Qianlixiu's son was sweeping the courtyard path, and Qianlixiu sat on the sidelines to watch, and when his son felt that he had finished sweeping, he said, "Not clean enough", and the son ran and did it again. When it was done, Qian Lixiu also said that it was "not clean enough".
This was done many times over and over again, and after a while the son said, "Father, there is nothing to do now." The stone steps had been washed three times, the stone lanterns and the trees had been sprinkled with water, the moss and lichen had been draped in a new layer of green, and I had not left a single branch or a leaf on the ground. ”
But Qian Lixiu stood up and walked into the garden, shaking a tree with his hand, and many golden and crimson leaves fell in the garden in a flash, which made the garden appear cleaner and more peaceful, and full of beauty and nature.
Always think of these two stories about Qianlixiu, the highest state of man is actually the harmony and unity with nature. In Zen terms, the difference between enlightened people and ordinary people is also here, living the same life, the feeling of the environment is completely different, they can achieve harmony with the environment at any time, whether it is in the desert or the city can create a state of peace and tranquility.
The help that Zen has given me is a pattern of calm, cleanliness, transcendence, simplicity, and nature.
I remember that when I moved back to the 210 dormitory in Xiyi in 1994, Zhaohui and I used wooden slats, white paper, bed boards and glass to work out a "one-bedroom, one-living room" layout, and the "hall" was paved with a floor glue, and all the guests needed to sit on the floor. Although the living conditions are now much higher than before, I still miss this cottage in Xiyi very much.
Regarding the "tea ceremony", the Japanese have a saying that "it is not tea", and the highest state of the tea ceremony is not tea, but should be a realm of vague freedom, simple attachment, spiritual enlightenment and oneness with nature.

The Ahan Sutra says: The lotus flower is born in the water, grows in the water, and sticks out of the water, not on the water. Thinking of this, my heart shook, and even the corners of my eyes had the meaning of water, believing that although I was born in water, I could one day be like a lotus flower.
