Yesterday morning, the scene of a gray-headed green woodpecker "shaving" in the garden of the Daling River Scenic Area aroused the interest of photography enthusiasts. At that time, the woodpecker was only a few meters away from the people, but it did not care, and still used its sharp beak to cut a small pit in the soil layer in front of it, until it quickly flew away after grabbing a hibernating insect.
According to a volunteer, woodpeckers mainly feed on moths on trees, and also go to the ground to feed other insects in summer and autumn, but this season's "planing pit" foraging scene is indeed rare. It seems that in order to adapt to various environments, birds really need to master some survival skills.
