Born in a rural family in Heilongjiang Province, Yang Chunbao was admitted to Tsinghua University with hard work and obtained the opportunity to study for a master's degree and a doctorate at Tsinghua University. From university to work, Dr. Yang's research on satellite navigation can be described as seamless.
As early as when he was studying for a doctorate at Tsinghua University, Yang Chunbao participated in the development of Tsinghua Naxing I, responsible for the on-board GPS module, and formed an indissoluble relationship with satellite navigation.
After graduation, Yang Chunbao chose to join Guangzhou Haige Communications, a listed company under the Guangzhou state-owned enterprise Radio Group and the largest Beidou navigation equipment provider in key areas of the country. In August 2004, the state approved the development of the Beidou-2 satellite navigation system, Yang Chunbao and Haige Communications Beidou team undertook three key projects of the Beidou-2 application subsystem, breaking through the core key technologies of Beidou positioning communication, making outstanding contributions to the construction of the Beidou system, and laying the foundation for Haige's core technical advantages and application expansion industry status in the Beidou-2 stage.
In the Beidou technology research, Yang Chunbao's enterprise Guangzhou Haige Communication attaches great importance to the problem of "lack of core and less core" in the industry, as early as 2008 began to self-finance chip research and development, Yang Chunbao was able to show his skills. In 2011, Yang Chunbao successfully presided over the development of the Beidou baseband chip with advanced indicators at that time, realized the compatible processing of Beidou, GPS and other signals, and completed the chip verification of various key technologies. Since 2016, Yang Chunbao has made efforts to tackle key problems in the Beidou-3 basic core chip project, and the three core baseband chips have all been successfully tape-out, and two first and one second excellent results have been obtained in the national test. At present, its newly developed Beidou-3 chip has been transformed into a series to achieve the transformation of achievements, which strongly supports the networking operation of the Beidou-3 global system.
"In fact, satellite navigation is very close to our lives, but also brings a lot of convenience to our lives, such as the use of high-precision positioning to guide robots, unmanned vehicles, drones for automatic loading and unloading and movement, to achieve unmanned docks, intelligent freight yards and other scenarios." ●Guangzhou Daily: You studied at Tsinghua University, and you are an excellent student in the eyes of people, and presumably many places at that time threw an olive branch to you. Why did you choose Guangzhou and Haige Communications when you graduated?
Yang Chunbao: My major is instrument science and technology, and I began to study satellite navigation when I was a doctoral student at Tsinghua University. The choice of Hagrid Communications was on the one hand a special professional counterpart, and on the other hand, it was also because I was attracted by the efficiency, pragmatism and sincerity of the city of Guangzhou.
I remember when I came to Guangzhou for an interview that winter, it was my first time in the south, and when I got off the plane, a wet and gentle wind blew in front of me, which was too comfortable for me who suffered from rhinitis and could not withstand the northwest wind, and I immediately liked the city.
When I came to Hagrid for the interview, I was touched by the sincerity and efficiency of this company: the whole process was arranged very thoughtfully; yang Haizhou, the then general manager (the current chairman of the radio group), talked to me for a long time, and his feelings of home and country resonated with me.

●Guangzhou Daily: In the past ten years, you have made remarkable achievements in the construction of the Beidou system, how did you do it?
Yang Chunbao: After graduating with a doctorate, I came to Guangzhou just in time for the Beidou-2 system to start construction, which enabled me to reflect my self-worth in serving the national strategy. It can be said that in the development of my career, Guangzhou has achieved me, and Hagrid has achieved me. Guangzhou is very forward-looking in industrial planning and support. Over the past decade, the Guangzhou Municipal Government has introduced many measures to support the Beidou industry, attach great importance to scientific and technological innovation, fully support enterprises to strengthen innovation capacity building, and stimulate the innovation ability of state-owned enterprises. Thanks to the good business environment in Guangzhou, but also thanks to the state-owned enterprise responsibility and good environment of Guangzhou Haige Communications, I have the opportunity to take root in the front line for a long time to study Beidou technology, and in recent years, I have devoted myself to the development of large-scale, high-risk and long-cycle Beidou SOC chips.

I not only like the climate here, but also the Pearl River. Nowadays, my most enjoyable moment is to accompany my family to stroll along the Pearl River in my spare time; when my relatives and friends come, I will also take them to the Pearl River to enjoy the beauty of Guangzhou.
