Ministry of Commerce: China continues to maintain Argentina's status as the second largest trading partner

At a regular press conference held by the Ministry of Commerce today (10 July), spokesman Gao Feng introduced that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the mainland and Argentina 50 years ago, the economic and trade relations between the two countries have maintained a healthy and stable development. In 2021, bilateral trade volume increased by 28.3% year-on-year to US$17.83 billion, and China continued to maintain Argentina's status as the second largest trading partner. The scale of two-way investment has steadily expanded, and investment and cooperation projects in new fields such as clean energy have emerged. Argentina is an important contracting project market for China in Latin America, and the cooperation between the two sides involves hydropower, railways, energy, communications and other fields.

Gao Feng said that in the next step, China is willing to work with the Arab side to jointly promote the construction of the "Belt and Road", promote the further development of pragmatic economic and trade cooperation between China and Argentina in various fields, especially in emerging areas such as digital economy and green development, strengthen investment cooperation, continuously improve the level of bilateral economic and trade cooperation, and enhance the well-being of the two peoples.
