Geneva, February 10 (Xinhua) -- According to data released by the World Health Organization on the 10th, the cumulative number of confirmed covid-19 cases in the world has exceeded 400 million, and the number of deaths has exceeded 5.77 million.

According to the latest data from the WHO website, as of 17:13 CET on the 10th (00:13 Beijing time on the 11th), the number of confirmed cases worldwide increased by 2332592 over the previous day to 402044502; the number of deaths increased by 12,005 to 5770023.

Among them, the United States is the country with the largest cumulative number of confirmed and fatal cases, with more than 76.44 million confirmed cases and more than 902,000 deaths, accounting for 19% and 15.6% of the global total, respectively.

Countries with a cumulative total of more than 10 million confirmed cases include India, Brazil, France, the United Kingdom, Russia, Turkey, Italy, Germany, and Spain. Among them, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in India and Brazil exceeded 42.47 million and 26.77 million, respectively, and the number of deaths exceeded 506,000 and 633,000, respectively. The cumulative number of confirmed cases in the United States, India and Brazil accounts for more than 36.2% of the global total, and the cumulative number of deaths accounts for nearly 35.4% of the global total.

By WHO region, 160298261 confirmed cases and 141406978 cases and 1804729 and 2552218 deaths have been reported to date in the European And 2552218 regions, respectively. Both regions account for more than 75% of the cumulative confirmed and fatal cases in the global total.

While confirmed and fatal covid-19 cases continue to grow globally, some countries have lifted or are considering lifting restrictions. In this regard, WHO stresses that the COVID-19 pandemic is far from over and that it is not the time to lift all restrictions at once. Since the mutated new coronavirus Omiljung strain is still active around the world, the countries concerned should take a steady and slow approach to gradually "unblock". (End)
