Live Bar Feb. 11, 2019 This season's NBA trade deadline (4 a.m. today) has passed, and the Lakers have not made a single trade.
According to The Athletic Lakers reporter Bill Oram, the Lakers had thought about bringing Schroeder back, but ultimately failed to make the trip.
Oram writes:
The Lakers had thought of bringing Schroder back to the team, and their previous starting point guard averaged 15.4 points and 5.8 assists per game last season, and after rejecting a four-year, $84 million early contract extension, Schroeder fell out of favor with the Lakers before having to accept a mid-range contract offer ($5.9 million) from the Celtics as a free agent.
Some within the Lakers objected to the possibility of reuniting with Schroeder, and the deal ultimately failed because of a theme today: unrealistic (transactional) asking prices.
Eventually, the Celtics traded Schroeder to the Rockets.
