The first and second rounds of the 2021 S/J League were held for two days in Kumamoto City and Yatsuyo City, Kumamoto Prefecture from February 5 to 6, but after that, due to the refusal of several participating teams to participate in the Tokyo Competition, the tournament was decided to cancel the competition.
Six teams applied to withdraw from the competition, including men's NTT East, Kanazawa Gakuin Club, Women's Zaichunkan Pharmaceutical Laboratory, NTT East, ACT SAIKYO, and San'in Contract Bank.
According to the S/J League Committee, the reason for withdrawing from the tournament is that "among the team members scheduled to participate, there are confirmed positive reactions to the novel coronavirus infection or due to poor physical condition."
