Hefei, February 10 (Reporter Zhao Qiang) reporter learned from Fanchang District, Wuhu City, Anhui Province on the 10th that recently, the 2022 active archaeological excavation project in Anhui Province has been approved by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, of which the Archaeological Excavation Project of Fanchang Kiln Site and Herringbone Cave Site is listed among them.

According to reports, the excavation of the Fanchang kiln site in 2020-2021 has revealed the distribution of the five generations of cultural accumulation layers and the living area of the kiln farm at the Fanchang kiln site. The excavation in 2022 is planned to combine the construction project of the Foundation and Supporting Facilities of the Fanchang Kiln and the Environmental Improvement Project, and lay out the edge of the site, and the academic goal is to solve the academic problems such as the functional partitioning of the kiln farm production and life under the archaeological perspective of the settlement, as well as the export channel of porcelain products.

In addition, the scientific research excavation of the herringbone cave site is a cooperative project between the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the People's Government of Fanchang District - "Excavation and Comprehensive Research of the Site of Fanchang Herringbone Cave in Anhui Province", which plans to carry out a total of about 80 days of archaeological excavation at the site of the Herringbone Cave in 2022. The academic objectives are to carry out systematic excavations at the Fanchang Herringbone Cave site, repair and restore the collected Paleolithic tools and fossil specimens, and conduct comprehensive research on the newly discovered animal fossils, mammals and ancient human activity remains at the Herringbone Cave site, and explore the nature and environmental background of early Chinese human culture.
