Liverpool have recently won four consecutive premier leagues, league cups and FA Cups, with Takumi Minamino scoring in two of them. Liverpool fan website RousingtheKOP wrote an article praising him, saying he "scored as many goals as Messi did". The article reads:
Takumi Minamino is quietly playing a wonderful season for Liverpool. While the 27-year-old is not yet a regular starter for the Reds, he has proven his worth to the team. In Sunday's game against Cardiff City, he scored his seventh goal of the season. Of course, this can't be compared to the team's top scorer Salah's 23 goals, but it does mean that this season he has scored as many goals as seven-time golden ball owner Messi. It sounds like a silly comparison, but it also highlights one thing: for Liverpool, the Japanese are a competent substitute striker.
The domestic cup is reliable
It looks like Liverpool are finally likely to win the Domestic Cup trophy this season. At the end of last month, they reached the League Cup final, and beating Cardiff City on Sunday allowed them to advance to the fifth round of the FA Cup – the next round against Norwich at home, the Reds should be able to reach at least the quarter-finals.
Takumi Minamino is an important driving force for the Reds to continue to move forward in the domestic two cup matches. In the League Cup, he scored four goals with an efficiency of one goal per 97 minutes, including a last-minute dramatic equaliser in regular time against Leicester City in the quarter-finals, dragging the game into a penalty shootout. Sunday was his first start in the FA Cup of the season and he scored a goal.
In the Premier League, on the surface, he scored two goals in eight appearances, but it only took him 94 minutes to score these two goals.
Do your own thing
Often, Takumi Minamino is ridiculed for the simple fact that he is not as strong as Jota, Mane, or Salah. But given his playing time, he's already done more than he does as a member of the team. He also seems comfortable with his current role on the team. After Sunday's game, head coach Klopp performed Takumi Minamino's attitude on the official website as "outstanding".
Liverpool don't have the money that Seems like a bottomless pit like Manchester City and Chelsea, and it is impossible to put players who bought £40 million on the bench every game. Minamino's transfer fee is only £7.25 million, allowing him to contribute as steadily as he does now, which should be seen as a more ingenious deal for Liverpool. In other words, The roles that Havertz and TakuMino really play in their respective teams are similar, but Chelsea spent £71 million for Havertz, almost 10 times as much as Liverpool did for The South Wildflowers! The German has also played 10 times as many times as Minamino (944 minutes) this season, but has scored as many goals as the latter.
Of course, the way to look at the problem this way is relatively simple. But it still shows that Liverpool 18 deserves huge praise, as he comes and scores. If Liverpool really want to win something this season, it will need Takumi Minamino. His contribution may not be as loud as his teammates, but the significance is still significant.
