In 2014, Japan's NHK's "Documentary 72 Hours" series locked the camera near Sensoji Temple and spent 72 hours tracking a 40-year-old Japanese café "Lodge Akashi".
Although only 976 people have watched the movie on Douban, it has received a high score of 8.3 points. In any case, I put a little effort into selecting the fragments I liked in this old film, hoping that more people would have a chance to see it; in any case, it was a small café that could exist in this world for 40 years, and I wanted to prove it.
The film, titled "Documentary 72 Hours: Asakusa's Late-Night Cafe", does not tell any heroic deeds, only the lives of ordinary people, but after watching it, I suddenly feel that this somewhat cold world has become instantly beautiful.

The protagonist café "Lodge Akashi" is located on the corner of a lane in Asakusa, freely and lightly avoiding the glitz and bustle of the city, avoiding the weight of history and the unpleasant smell, and becoming a gathering base for three generations of local residents.
It has been in operation for more than 40 years, and the old store opens at 9 o'clock in the morning until it closes at 5 o'clock in the morning, and is open for 20 hours a day, rain or shine. Ms. Yoko, who is nearly 70 years old, has been working here for 30 years, 6 days a week, serving the surrounding residents.
With no dazzling history or celebrity backing, the regular visitors who visit every day are mostly local residents. Many guests have spent 30 years here and are as familiar with it as they are in their own backyard.
People gather here, relax, have fun, even go on blind dates, walk their dogs... Chatting with each other is also straight forward, and the mouth is not covered. And an old customer even jokingly said, "If I don't come to the café for three days, 80% of everyone thinks I'm dead."
The old men who are no longer the main force of society,

Leaning on the door to drink tea and reminiscing about the old days.
The elderly grandfather broke his heart for the marriage of the younger generation,

Office workers who grew up in this community,

There are her favorite fixed seats in the store,
It's as relaxing as living in your own living room.
Men in the funeral industry,
Because of the special nature of the profession, meet here at night,
Have a cup of coffee and chat to relieve the stress of work.
The director did not deliberately arrange an interviewee,
Use the lens to randomly track the customers entering the store,
But I also accidentally captured some special stories.
Elderly people living alone
Between interviews, it suddenly began to rain,
Braved the rain to walk into an elderly man.
The old man is alone,
There are no partners and children, and they live on pensions.
As the days passed, the memory gradually faded.
He would write down each day on a piece of paper,
Every day passes, cross out a day,
Rely on this stupid method, otherwise you will be confused.
When is the happiest time of the day?
Perhaps, many people will say,
It's time to get together for dinner with the whole family.
But because there is no complete family,
The old man's three meals a day are solved outside.
This café has become part of its own "home".
"You can eat delicious food here,

Night is the most mysterious time of the day, and the noise of the day disappears into the darkness with the night. There are all kinds of people gathered here, from ordinary office workers, taxi drivers, funeral home workers... Everyone has a story of their own.
In the middle of the night, the years flow slowly and calmly in this small space.
Single mom
Divorced 25 years ago, desperately working,

Life is very urgent.
After the three children are completely independent,

This little café for her,
It is a place where you can breathe a little under the pressure of life.
Read a newspaper, eat a meal, smoke a cigarette,
After the whole person is completely relaxed,
Continue towards the streets of the late night.
The entire program cycle does not exceed 72 hours,
The whole film is only 25 minutes.
The show is over,
But the story and life go on.
This small café quietly accepts people's joys and sorrows like a tree hole, greed and resentment. A cup of delicious coffee makes you forget your worries for a second and ignore the distractions around you, even if it is only for a short time.
Every time you go to a city, there's always a coffee shop that condenses the stories around you. Tell the people who discovered it: life, the city, become a landscape, unchanged is the habit.
