The Post: City have appealed Walker's three-game suspension in the Champions League

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester City have appealed to UEFA about Walker's three-game European suspension.

Walker was sent off for playing Andre Silva in the Champions League group stage between Manchester City and Red Bull Leipzig last December, and was later suspended for three games and will miss out on the round of 16 against Sporting Portugal.

City initially accepted the penalty result, but after looking at other examples from recent seasons, the club felt the penalty of a three-game suspension was too severe and was seeking to reduce the suspension.

Inter midfielder Barrera was suspended twice on the same night for boxing Real Madrid defender Militao, while other similar events – including Griezmann this season, Muller in 2018 and Guye last year – gave City the audacity to appeal.

In addition, in 2015, Dynamo Kiev's Yarmolenko was suspended for three games for fiercely shoveling Guingamp midfielder Sanhare, which was later reduced to one after appeal.

UEFA will not extend the suspension on appeal and City will be hoping to persuade them to change their sentence.
