Literature and art are called poetry

It is often asked whether poetry belongs to literature or art? This question is like asking how figure skating differs from other skating competitions? For example, 500-meter short track speed skating is an absolute sports competition, while figure skating is not purely a sports competition, but also contains artistic beauty, which has been artistically processed, like ice dance. Therefore, poetry belongs to both literature and art.

Since poetry is also a kind of literary genre, contemporary Chinese poetry almost only emphasizes literature and does not talk about art. They place too much emphasis on poetic literature, on the regularization of poetry, regardless of artistic aesthetics, and I guess they may not have understood the art of music in the first place, because their commentaries only comment on the literary techniques of poetry, but never on artistic beauty.

Take gelug poetry, I am not against gelug poetry, the earliest grammar of the peace and confrontation is to make poetry more rhythmic and artistic aesthetics, perhaps the people who invented the grammar never expected that the grammar in five hundred years later turned out to become a "stumbling block" to prevent the play of art, it is better than no grammar.

Whether it is a poem or a word, at first there is a fixed level, but it is not the only one that pays attention to the level, such as songwriting, division and equality, battle and so on. So where did Gregorian poetry come from? Of course the poets themselves invented. For example, Su Shi is not only a poet, but also a musician, and many of the tones of the word plates are invented and played by poets. Just as we can now bend ourselves, the grammatics are not natural, they are man-made.

The name "Gelug poems" only existed in the Tang Dynasty, but who invented Gelug? It was invented by the more famous poet Xie Shuo (about 464--499) in the Southern Qi period. At the beginning, in order to harmonize the tone, he created his own ping-shu confrontation. However, it did not prevail until after the Tang Dynasty, and it slowly matured, and after the popularity, people named it "Gelugshi". I am afraid that even Xie Shuo, who invented Gelu poetry, did not think of changing his name to "Gelushi" after entering the Tang Dynasty. He just wrote, harmonized his own poetry, and made a note of it. After a hundred years, it becomes more and more mysterious, as if poetry is born as a grammatical poem? It's true that poetry rhymes, but grammatical poetry doesn't mean all poetry. If there had not been a Xie Shuo in the world, there would have been no Gelug poems. Since ancient times, there have been many poems, and the rhyme and beauty of each poem are invented by each author himself and created by himself, and there is no absolute or pure fixed pattern. Why do songs have different tones and tunes? Because Chinese characters in ancient times have five tones, modern is four, in order to the poetic language of the tone is good and harmonious, at least play and sing catchy, invented the ping shu battle, but the verse of the flat can be changed, not all the ping shu can not change, the ping shu is also long and short, which has nothing to do with understanding poetics, poetry originally belongs to art, this is the ancients by playing the piano to play out, rhythm and rhyme to listen to. As for which word is ping and which word is 仄, they are recorded after repeated playing, to put it bluntly, it is for the sake of harmony and smoothness, not to be awkward.

And some stubborn poets of the new era, or they are a group of vassals and elegant people, have taken the law as an excuse to understand poetics, while their poems are written like chewing wax and are complacent.

Someone asked, "Did the Tang Dynasty people only write Gelug poems?" "Of course not. Ancient poetry and songs are too many, Li Bai's "Will Enter the Wine" is not a Gelug poem, but "Will Enter the Wine" also belongs to a kind of poetry, also called Lefu. Whether you write poems or fill in words, you are all poets, Su Shi loves to fill in words, is he not a poet? Li Bai also filled in "QingPing Tone".

Poetry is not just literature, deliberately prose poetry, you might as well write prose. Poetry cannot be only art, after all, poetry is a kind of literary genre. Poetry belongs to literature as well as art, and the truth is simple, no one can be perfect. The poems that are written are either rigid or overdone. The polarization of poetry, one in favor of prose and one towards lyrics, neither of these is good poetry.

Send a kind of pre-Qin small poem, the poem is concise and beautiful. There is both literature and artistic beauty.

Yue Ren Song

[ Pre-Qin ] Anon

-

Tonight and evening, the middle of the continent.

Today, when the day is, he will be in the same boat as the prince.

Shame is not to be blamed for shame.

Annoyed and overwhelmed to learn of the prince.

Mountains have wood and branches.

The heart says that the king does not know.

Translated into contemporary vernacular poetry:

What a night tonight, roaming in the river.

What a day it is, to be in the same boat as the prince.

Deeply loved, do not be ashamed of my contempt.

The mood is still chaotic, and I can get to know the prince.

There are trees on the mountain, and the trees have branches,

I like you in my heart, but you don't know it.

"Yue Ren Song" is written about the pure love thoughts of the Yue people in the Spring and Autumn Period, the poems are deep and euphemistic, there is no complicated story, but it is moving. Whether in China or abroad, there are many stories of beautiful people loving princes: there are Cinderella loves princes in foreign countries, and there are short songs of "Yue Ren Song" in China. The prince was playing in the river, and the Vietnamese were swinging for him, and she was silently in love with the prince, but she was a poor woman. The prince was deeply touched by the love of the Yue people, secretly lingered with her all night, and then hurried away from her.

Why translate into vernacular poetry? Because ancient and modern speak differently. It is not that the ancients loved to speak the language, but the tone words of the ancients were "what is the matter". Times are different, and speaking is naturally different. Modern people ask, "Have you eaten?" The greeting of the pre-Qin dynasty certainly did not "what is it" even contemporary people said "drink", and in ancient times said "eat wine". Therefore, it is right for contemporary people to write modern poetry, and if you love ancient poetry, it must be poetry, that is called poetry, and it must not be prose.

The love poems of the new era are written more and more "kitsch", like the love of "Yue Ren Song", which is silently attached to love, is almost unpopular, and the roses that are shy and answered have long been buried in the soil by the poet and turned into antiques. Some people like to read real emotions, and "Yue Ren Song" is the authentic real emotion writing. But does anyone think that writing nude poetry is real? That's not necessarily true, a lot of obscene poetry is fake poetry, not reality at all. Think about it: is it still lonely for a widowed and lonely poet to write about male and female love every day? It must be a made-up poem, otherwise she would not be lonely. Therefore, contemporary garbage poetry is nonsense, there is no real love, the purpose is to stimulate lustful people.

Poetry without literature is called shallow knowledge, and poets who do not understand art write poems that may have connotations but no artistic beauty, like reading prose novels. Most of the great poets of ancient times knew musical instruments and fine arts, and many were painters. Many poets can play the piano, poetry without a sense of rhythm is not good poetry, but rhythm and rhyme are not an excuse to close poetry, poets have the right to compose their own songs, and poets are also innovators.

Grammatical poetry has no right to attack modern poetry, and modern poetry cannot completely eliminate the art of poetry, but only literature. Literature and art coexist, which is called poetry.
