TA: The Lakers have reason to keep the 27-year first round This summer, they can take the 27+29 first round to send Wei Shao back to the star

Live Bar February 9, TA Lakers accompanying reporters Jovan Buha and Bill Oram today jointly wrote an article analyzing the prospects of the Lakers' subsequent transactions.

The Lakers reportedly have reason to be less aggressive in peddling their 27-year first-round picks before the trade deadline, because keeping that pick would give the Lakers more operational flexibility this offseason. It's worth noting that the Lakers' decision to stay in the 27-year first round will give them more hope of trading Westbrook out in the summer and getting rid of his $47 million salary from the 22-23 season.

The Lakers won't be traded until July 1, 2022, which means that if they can keep their 27-year first-round picks, they can put two first-round picks in the deal that sent Westbrook this summer. That could help them bring in a star who is better suited to pair up with James and Davis.
