However, if you do not use good skills, when backlit, compared with the brightness of the background, the object being photographed will appear darker, easy to form shadows, if the backlight is too strong, it will also cause the subject to strong underexposure, or black face, or no detail at all... Master the timing of shooting
To produce attractive backlit works, a grasp of light is especially important. Taking daylight as an example, the light changes every moment, especially the change in light intensity, angle and color temperature, which has an important impact on backlight shooting. Before shooting, be familiar with the characteristics of different lights, grasp the internal rules, master the shooting timing, and be able to play with ease in shooting.
In general, shooting light is divided into two main categories: natural light sources (daylight) and artificial light sources
It is easier to grasp and use the natural light source, the following is familiar with it, usually divided into 3 periods.
1, the first period for sunrise, sunset, but also the best time for backlight shooting, at this time the angle between the light and the ground is small (about 0 ° ~ 30 °), the intensity of the light source is weak, the color temperature is low, can well set off the atmosphere and artistic conception, so that the work forms a warm tone. It should be noted that the light changes quickly at sunrise and sunset, and many wonderful rays of light will slip away in an instant, so it is necessary to make full preparations.

If the weather is good and the light is strong, it is difficult to focus on backlight shooting, and it will encounter strong halos, which is not conducive to the performance of things. Therefore, you should try to avoid shooting directly at the light source, you can try to find some angle of oblique light, or use the reflected beam of other objects to shoot to reduce the intensity of the light.
This photo was taken when traveling in India, just from the desert to see the sunrise riding on the back of a camel, just about two hours after sunrise, the light angle is not high, but gradually become stronger, when shooting to find some oblique angle to shoot. I liked the layered and echoing glare of the picture, and the shadows of the trees were stretched long. 3, the third period is noon, at this time the light and the ground are basically in a perpendicular state, the light is very strong, very emphasis on backlight shooting skills. You can use the foreground or subject to block, so that the sunlight forms a strong radiation effect, or use flash to fill the light, which not only better adjusts the intensity of the light, but also increases the artistic charm of the work.
Two hours before sunset, the angle of light is more inclined, and the oblique light is projected on the red star in my hand, and the visual center is well gathered there, which is a better way to express it.
Personal Experience:
The light near sunset is the last light for backlight shooting, at this time the angle of sunlight and ground formation and color temperature are very suitable for backlight shooting, photographers should try to avoid shooting directly in front of the light source, you can try to find some oblique, away from the angle of the main light source, the use of snow or other reflected beams to shoot, in order to weaken the intensity of the light, but do not lose the backlight effect of the brilliant.
