Bobsleigh originated in Switzerland and gradually became popular in Europe, North America and Asia. The sleds were originally made of wood and later developed to be made of metal. In 1884, The first Bobsleigh Open was held in England. In 1924, it was listed as the first Winter Olympic event.
The Beijing Winter Olympic Bobsleigh Competition will be held on February 5-10 at the Yanqing National Bobsleigh Center and will produce four gold medals (men's single, women's single, double bobsleigh and team relay). The single-player race is generally held for two days, with two rounds of skating each day, and the shortest of the four-wheeled skating will win. The two-day two-wheeled slabing event also takes the least amount of time to win. In the team relay race, there is a relay touch plate above the finish line, and before the athlete passes the finish line, he needs to sit up and pat the touch plate to open the starting door at the starting point, thus completing the team relay.

After the successful bid for the 2015 Beijing Winter Olympics, China formed a national bobsleigh team.
