Xu Jianxi, one of the torchbearers of the Winter Olympics, is the secretary of the party branch of Xidazhuangke Village in Zhangshanying Town, Yanqing District. Xidazhuangke Village is the closest village to Xiaohaituo Mountain in the Winter Olympics. Xu Jianxi, as a local, is familiar with the topography of Xiaohaituo Mountain, and during the bid for the Winter Olympic Games, he led the National Surveying and Mapping Technology Department and the Olympic Organizing Committee to investigate Xiaohaituo Mountain and successfully cooperated with the completion of the evaluation of the Olympic bid.
In the past few years, Xu Jianxi has climbed Xiaohaituo Mountain dozens of times. Whether it is the bidding, preparation, guarantee of the Winter Olympic Games, or the daily forest protection and fire prevention work, Xu Jianxi and the local villagers have made arduous efforts.

The highest point of Xiaohaituo Mountain is above 2,000 meters above sea level, and the National Alpine Ski Center and the National Bobsleigh Center are built on its mountainous terrain.
When the weather is clear, looking at Yanqing Xiaohaituo Mountain, you can clearly see several white and bright snow trails swooping down from the top of the mountain, and a few years ago, Xiaohaituo Mountain was one of the donkey friends' favorite "wild mountains", overgrown with weeds and high altitudes, which was extremely challenging to climb.
From the bidding and preparation of the Beijing Winter Olympics to the daily fire protection work, Xu Jianxi has climbed dozens of times on the steep Xiaohaituo Mountain, which is why he is called "Secretary of The Patrol". "Our village is the closest village to Xiaohaituo Mountain, and we are familiar with the terrain of Xiaohaituo, so we have served as a guide for the National Surveying and Mapping Technology Department, the Olympic Organizing Committee and the International Snow Federation." Xu Jianxi said.
Xu Jianxi recalled that Xiaohaituo Mountain not only has a high altitude, but also did not have a gentle road for people and cars to use a few years ago, and some places are overgrown with weeds, requiring villagers to open the road first and then continue to walk.
"By April 2017, There was a 3-metre-wide temporary road that led to the end of the current alpine ski track, but there was no way to continue up." Xu Jianxi said that everyone also has to carry equipment and food to the mountain, "From our village to the main peak of Xiaohaituo, it takes 5 hours to walk." Working hours on the mountain can only be two hours, so it takes 12 hours to go round trip. ”
For the Winter Olympics, Xu Jianxi has climbed Xiaohaituo Mountain in the four seasons of spring, summer, autumn and winter.
"It is more difficult to go up the mountain in winter, especially on snowy days, and you have to fall more than 10 meters when you fall, and it is difficult to walk on the mountain." Xu Jianxi introduced that when going up the mountain in winter, he walked a sweat, but the mountain was more than 30 degrees below zero, which was the easiest to catch a cold at this time. It is not easy to go in the summer, and when it rains, you have to lie on the hillside, afraid of thunder and lightning. Xu Jianxi remembers lying on the hillside and watching the rain flow away from below. "Catching up with whatever day is what day, I will take everyone with me." Because in the process of bidding for the Winter Olympics, I have to repeatedly examine the data, so I have to go up the mountain often. Now the land before the stadium complex was built, I almost walked through. Xu Jianxi said.
During the bid to host the Winter Olympic Games, Xu Jianxi led the national surveying and mapping technology department and the Olympic Organizing Committee to conduct a leading survey and successfully cooperated with the completion of the evaluation of the Olympic bid. On July 31, 2015, Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics bid successfully, and Yanqing will become one of the three major competition areas of the Winter Olympic Games. Xu Jianxi was thrilled to learn that the land under his feet would become a competition venue for alpine skiing and bobsleigh.
Since then, the various construction parties of the Yanqing Winter Olympic venues have settled in, and Xu Jianxi has taken the initiative to run to various construction sites to understand the needs of the construction parties and actively help the construction parties to solve practical difficulties.
Earlier, there was no water and no electricity on the Xiaohaituo Mountain, so he took the initiative to help the workers solve their water needs and sent them anti-heat medicines in the summer. Xu Jianxi: Probably in December last year, I was notified that I was a torchbearer candidate, and on January 20 this year, when I was notified to do nucleic acid testing, I realized that I had officially become a torchbearer. When I knew that I was an alternative, I was excited, and I felt very proud after officially becoming a torchbearer.
It was a bit of a blind spot at first, and I didn't expect to be a torchbearer. I am the secretary of the party branch of a village, and it is a great honor to be able to participate in the country's major events as a torchbearer. When receiving the official notice, the first time is to feel that they must strictly demand themselves, in accordance with the epidemic prevention and control, can not eat together, gather.
Beijing News: During the preparation of the Winter Olympics, what other work did you participate in?
Xu Jianxi: Forest protection and fire prevention has always been the normal work in our village, because the site of the Winter Olympic Games area is located in our Xiaohaituo Mountain, and our task of forest protection and fire prevention is even more important. Since 2015, we have been guarding the forest fire safety of Xiaohaituo 24 hours a day. In addition, we have 26 people doing forest fire prevention work in the core area outside the Winter Olympics.
In addition, we must also do a good job in epidemic prevention and control, because we are the territory of the Winter Olympics, and we must ensure that there are no problems in every aspect.
Beijing News: Has the construction of the Yanqing Division brought any changes to the local area?
Xu Jianxi: The Winter Olympics will be held in our place, and we are also the beneficiaries. In recent years, our village has been upgraded, the transportation facilities have been improved, and the highway exit to our village is only one kilometer, which is very convenient. The villagers are also very satisfied and are very much looking forward to the development after the Winter Olympic Games.
Regarding how to eat ice and snow rice well, we want to train young people in the village to cultivate technical talents in skiing, ice making, etc., and solve their employment problems. Zhangshanying Town set up a farmers' ski team, our village has seven or eight young people involved in skiing, they have also taken the ski instructor qualification certificate, which is to give them a good ice and snow meal to lay a foundation. Moreover, many people in the farmers' ski team participated in the service guarantee of the Winter Olympics.
