30 years ago, there was a Hollywood movie with two heroines that achieved unexpected success.
It grossed around $60 million at a cost of $16.5 million, making it one of the highest-grossing films of the Summer in the United States that year.
It's about the classic women's movie [The End of the Road].

Everyone remembers the scene at the end where Selma and Louise's flying car jumped over the canyon, light and magnificent.
This leap symbolizes the ultimate rebellion and release—
The old lady is not playing with you anymore.
What is valuable is that this "pinnacle of women's cinema" is not labeled, it delicately cuts through the inner world of women.
We see Selma facing her husband's repression and neglect before drinking, racing, and shooting.
I also know the history of Being Raped beneath Louise's independent and strong surface, which would tremble at all.
Compared with the obsession of many "female-oriented" works for "independent women" and "cool plots", it is much higher.
In the screening unit [Universal Film Festival Selection] that is now launched this month in the short film season, the short films with female themes have made the same demonstration as "The End of the Road":
Reject one-dimensional labeling and simply tell women's stories honestly.
The short film "Girl from the Beach" combines "sand animation" and realistic images to express the protagonist Nala's longing for female best friends.
Their birthdays are only 10 days away, and their names are similar to those that can be confused.
Nala, Terra, two little people who are always inseparable, climb trees together, jump into the sea together, and run away together.
Nala was timid and asked Terra to push her in the back when she was afraid.
They witnessed every change in each other's bodies during adolescence, even rebellion.
The first sip of the smoke that choked was smoked together, and the first vigorous love was in front of each other.
Later, Nala left the island with Terra because her parents divorced.
No matter how long they haven't seen each other, they are still close and still know all the secrets of each other.
Unfortunately, the thousand paper cranes that the two people folded together had not yet saved 1,000, and Terra died.
Nala left the paper crane to her and lay herself on the beach that belonged to the two of them, shedding tears.
They only met in their dreams, and the first thing they did was to run to each other and give each other a big hug.
The sincere female friendship shown by the short film has helped it to be shortlisted for well-known film festivals such as the Toronto International Film Festival, the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, and the Amsterdam International Documentary Film Festival.
Female friendships are vast and delicate, sometimes as intimate as love.
Its essence is empathy and care between women.
If you lose your friend, the gap in your heart will not be completed.
It can be seen that the female story in reality does not have the "coolness" in some female works, but more "pain".
These pains are complex, not just flaws.
That's the case with the short film Caroline.
Caroline is her mother's eldest daughter, only 6 years old, and has a tooth that is about to fall out.
Her mum is young, single, has three children and is still looking for a job.
So during the interview, she had to drive the car to take the children with her.
Big patience, small efforts to appease, big and small are settled, before hurriedly applying lipstick in the car to the interview.
But she didn't realize that she had made a pretty serious mistake and that leaving her child alone in the car was extremely dangerous.
Although Caroline took the initiative to help her mother take care of her younger siblings, she was still too young to know how to turn on the air conditioner in the car, and her younger siblings cried loudly in the heat.
Luckily, passers-by noticed them and managed to get Caroline to open the car door, turn on the air conditioner, and stay with them.
She rescues the children and quietly helps Caroline put away her car keys, intending to wait for the "irresponsible" mother to return and reprimand her.
In the United States, leaving a child under the age of 13 alone in a car is punishable by a prison sentence.
Caroline's mother rushed back from the interview and panicked.
She grabbed the key from the passerby's hand and tried to flee the scene quickly, but in a hurry, she crashed into the car in front of her and was driven out of the car.
The most innocent are the children.
Caroline saw her younger siblings in the car crying, and the mother and passers-by outside the car wrestled, simply rushed out of the car, and bit down hard on the shoulder of the passerby who slapped her mother.
Her loose teeth fell out and a hand of blood was shed.
The details presented in this short film are too real.
The fatal mistake of the single mother in the panic, the little girl in order to maintain the mother's viciousness, people are moved, and tear people's hearts apart.
The short film is based on real events, and the reality ends that the single mother has not escaped the punishment of the law.
The film was shortlisted at the Cannes International Film Festival, the Oscar for Best Live-Action Short Film Shorts and the South by Southwest Film Festival, and won the Best Feature Short Film award at the 44th Seattle International Film Festival.
There is also pain, so intense that it lasts for life.
The little girl in the animated short film "Naughty Girl" has an innocent and comfortable daily life, and an unusually heavy non-daily life.
Her daily routine consisted of sweet apricot biscuits, beautiful scarlet shoes and the invisible wind on the train.
But the hidden danger --
The black and red monsters with the heart of those human faces are also hidden in daily life.
The monsters called her "naughty girl," and the little girl didn't know what they had done to her.
All she knew was to shout out the words she was familiar with in her daily life, "Ah":
(French) accordion, cars, islands, bees...
She couldn't make a real cry because no one could understand her language.
She shuttles between the daily and the non-everyday, and the monsters appear from time to time, with different appearances:
Sometimes it was a rat that gave a piece of cheese and bit her nails, and sometimes it was a giant beast with abominable fangs and sharp claws.
When she was covered by the monster, she thought of the story her mother had told:
Eat more tomato bread, you can grow wings that can fly.
But she was doomed to escape.
"Naughty Girl" uses imaginative animation vocabulary to visualize the inner world of a little girl who is overwhelmed by sexual assault, like a muffled drum hitting the audience's heart.
The film won the César Film Award for Best Animated Short Film, the Grand Prix at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival for "Short Cannes", and the Jury Prize at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival.
The short film works in the [Universal Film Festival Selection] section come from the Venice International Film Festival, the Cannes International Film Festival, the Berlin International Film Festival, the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival in France and other world-renowned film festivals.
Many of his works swept through major international film festivals, and some won the Academy Award for Best Short Film.
