The Norwegian royal family also confirmed in a statement released on Christmas Day that Ali Baines, 47, died by suicide, leaving behind 3 children born to Marta Louise, 48.
The eldest daughter of Ali Bain and Martha Louise, Maud Angelica, was born in 2003, the second daughter, Leah Isadora, was born in 2005, and the third daughter, Emma Tallulah, was born in 2008.
Ali Bain and Princess Marta Louise married in 2002 and divorced in 2017. That same year, he accused Hollywood actor Kevin Spacey of reaching under the table to touch him at a Nobel Peace Prize concert a decade earlier.
King Harald V of Norway said in a statement on the evening of the 25th: "The queen and I are very sad that we have received the news of the death of Ali Bain. Ali Bain published his first book in 1999, a collection of short stories with an English translation titled Sorrow Like Hell. He has also written several other novels and plays, and in 2018 published his last book, Purgatory, in which he detailed his struggles with mental health issues.
