Collins: I'm going to keep moving on to the next goal

American adept Collins reached the women's singles final as a dark horse at this Australian Open, and she will be among the world's top ten for the first time this week, and the 28-year-old Collins has become the highest-ranked American player at present.

'Because there was a time when I was hoping to be in the top 10 of the world, which was my goal last season, but I didn't get there. Collins said, "Achieving this goal at the beginning of the season is very important to me. So the next thing I'm going to do is keep working hard and move towards my next goal, which I have other hopes to achieve in my future career. ”

After losing the first set 3-6 in the women's singles final, Collins once took a 5-1 lead in the second set, and collins said that he did not regret not being able to take the second set: "I have been pushed to my limit, and at the end I have been fighting for opportunities, unfortunately I have not been able to win the second set, but I have given my all, I have put all my efforts into it. So the event was a great experience for me, I reached some new goals, I learned some new things, and obviously I still have some areas to improve. ”

After graduating from college, without the resources of wild cards, Collins had to go on the ITF field to improve his rankings and make himself on the WTA Tour, to which she said: "This experience has been beneficial to me, and those who have followed me for the past few years must know this very well, I love to compete on the field and enjoy the process." ”

Last season, due to injury and surgery, Collins did not have a coach at the Australian Open, and her team consisted of only two people, namely her long-term mentor Marty Schneider and boyfriend Joe Vollen, who also thanked them at the award ceremony.

"Marty and I reminisce about competing together, I remember when I was in Orlando for a 25K event where I didn't get good results, and compared to my current competitive state, it feels like a long time has passed, but it's not really far away. I think about the challenges and problems I have encountered in some small events, how I have faced these problems, I was once completely overwhelmed, but on this road, I have learned a lot of things and have grown a lot. ”

"I'm very proud to be here without a coach and almost alone. A lot of the top players have a whole team to help them prepare for the game, and in my career, I've never been that way, I've never worked with a coach for more than a few months. So a lot of things I have to do by myself, do my homework, think about the game strategy and so on, it's not easy, sometimes these things are very challenging and very exhausting. ”

After becoming a TOP10 player, Collins hopes to gradually build her own team, first by bringing in a physical therapist and then by finding a long-term coach.
