According to the Yorkshire Post, Leeds United rejected Van de Beek and Winks in the winter window.
Leeds United signed 18-year-old striker Mateo Joseph Fernandez from Espanyol in this winter window. At the same time, with young right-back Cody Dlamé still on loan at Cardiff City, Leeds United's squad has become weaker than in the first half. Leeds United finished ninth in the Premier League last season, and now they are only 15th, not far from the relegation zone.
Both Van de Beek and Tottenham's Winks were options to consider in the winter window, but Bielsa felt the two players could not meet his requirements and eventually turned van der Beek to join Everton. Bielsa insists that he won't sign other players unless the players in the market are better than the ones he has. Since Leeds United's return to the Premier League, he has realised that the team has invested heavily and he doesn't want the club to spend what he doesn't think is worth it on player trades.
