On Saturday night, after Bielsa left, Leeds were looking for a new manager. After losing to Tottenham, the Argentine came under enormous pressure at Elan Road, with Antonio Conte's side winning 4-0. In 26 games so far this season, they have conceded 60 goals, an average of 2.3 goals per game. They haven't won in their last six games, five of which they've lost. They have conceded 21 goals since they last won the game. This week, they lost 6-0 away to Liverpool before losing the aforementioned match against Tottenham. It's no surprise that Bielsa was dismissed as a result, with leeds reportedly having a number of candidates ready to take over.
Jesse Marsh
Jesse Marsh is still unemployed after being sacked by Leipzig earlier this season. The American took over the sister team playing in the Bundesliga after the success of Red Bull Salzburg, but was sacked in December 2021 after a record of 7 wins, 4 draws and 6 losses. Despite a failed coaching experience at Leipzig, Marsh maintains a good reputation in European football and he is currently a favourite to succeed Bielsa.
Allardyce
From one extreme to the other. As a football coach, Bielsa is known for his attacking, aggressive style, and while those tactics worked well with Leeds last season, it's clear that the team needs to be stronger to avoid relegation. One option for Leeds was the complete opposite, appointing the super pragmatic Allardyce, who has a good performance in the Premier League to take over a struggling club and help them survive in the top flight. It may not be a welcome appointment, but Leeds fans won't care if he can help the team relegate.
Carlos-Cobran
Carlos Cobran isn't necessarily the most famous name, but he has become an option for Leeds management. He's currently doing well at Huddersfield But he would definitely love to come back to Leeds because of his experience at the club. Colbran coached the U23 team at Eran road before being promoted to first-team coach at Bielsa. It was at Leeds that his abilities as a coach were discovered, thus securing a job at Huddersfield. But was Leeds wise to appoint a Bielsa student?
Valverde
If you tell leeds fans that they will appoint a La Liga champion coach, they will definitely be excited. Former Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao head coach Valverde is one of the favourites for Leeds' next manager. Crucially, Valverde will still implement the offensive football that Leeds players are accustomed to, but he will also be able to give the team the ability to control the game.
Scott Parker
There are currently many young and talented British coaches leading the team forward in the Premier League and Championship. One of them is Scott Parker, who will be the new target for Elamro if several of the favourites mentioned above decline the invitation. However, Parker is currently coaching at Bournemouth and has a good chance of getting promoted to the Premier League through the Cherries. So, is he willing to risk taking over a potentially relegated team?
