Telling stories with skirts, French designers sewing books and dials into skirts, is so beautiful

Sylvie is a self-taught dress designer in France.

But the dress she made was different from everyone else's.

A few years ago, we introduced her to this dress underneath.

Sylvie is from the small northern French city of Arras, which is home to a variety of historical monuments.

This dress is her tribute to her hometown.

Inside, various elements outline the scenery of Alas.

There is a baroque town square, there is a statue of the angel of Saudemont from the collection of the Arras Museum,

There is the iconic sculpture of the town's bell tower, the Lion of Arras.

The following "book skirts" are inspired by the small town's bookstore Grande Librairie d'Arras.

She was good friends with the bookstore owner, and the friend asked her to pick up some old scrap books to take home.

She removed the spine of the book and used it to make the tights part of the skirt.

The pages are used as skirts.

Old paper, lace, tulle are subtly blended into one.

I also made several styles.

The skirt below, called "The Color of Time", pays homage to the town's watchmaker Bernard Sénéca, and contains sundials, hourglasses, clock hands, pearls and silk tulle watches.

The rice ear skirt below instantly pulls the time back to the agricultural harvest of the Arras Plain.

Sylvie originally worked in the field of social life for 30 years,

But she has been fascinated by painting, color, and plants since she was a child, and likes to fiddle with beautiful fabrics such as silk and lace.

10 years ago, she began to grope for a skirt to express the beauty in her eyes.

The pre-Raphaelites, the Austrian painter Klimt, the 19th-century French Symbolist poet Paul Verlaine, the architecture of the town, steampunk, and nature, all became her inspirations.

From design to sewing, each dress is done by hand little by herself.

Generally, a skirt uses 47 meters of cloth and takes 150-350 hours to complete.
