Mango travel diary: I heard that during the Republic of China period, Guangxi produced a lot of generals, this time driving Guangxi Yulin, just visited an old residence of the Republic of China generals, covering an area of 400 acres, it is said that the owner is only 1.57 meters tall but married 8 wives, a life of ups and downs, very legendary.
This general's old residence is called Xielu Mountain Villa, located in Wushi Town, Luchuan County, Yulin City, Guangxi, 26 kilometers away from the county seat, in the middle of the mountainside, covering an area of 400 acres, integrating the style of The North and South Manors of China as one, the pavilions and pavilions are scattered with flowers and trees, which can be described as a step by step scene, known as the "First Zhuang of Eight Gui", and is also one of the four major private estates in China.
The owner of the manor, named Lü Yaonong, was born in 1871, from the county and Zhizhou to the first commander of the infantry in the central district of the Guangxi Army, his life is quite legendary, of which the most popular is his height and his wives. Lü Yaonong is 1.57 meters tall, weighs more than 80 pounds, has a short stature, is known as a short general, may be short in his own stature, and does not want to set off the tallness of others, so the wife he marries is relatively small and exquisite, and the hired subordinates and caravans are also relatively short.
Someone summed up the life of Lü Taro Farmer: Xi Se, Xi Wu, Xi Wen.
First, joy: only 1.57 meters tall but married 8 wives
Although his short stature is only 1.57 meters tall, Lu Taro farmers have done a lot of things that men want to do but can't do or dare not do - married 8 wives, and it is said that all 8 wives can coexist peacefully. This is reflected in the second gate of his estate, Xielu Villa, because a pumpkin picture is painted on the door, and the tour guide explains that a main vine represents Lü Taonong, and three melons are knotted on the vine, indicating that he has three homes (in Luchuan, Luocheng, Liuzhou, and Xuwen County, Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province); eight melon leaves represent that he has eight wives; five flowers indicate that he has five sons; and the lush vine branches and leaves symbolize his family's prosperity.
Second, xiwu: spent a huge amount of money to build the "first manor of eight gui"
Legend has it that Lü Yaonong loved engineering design and architectural art very much, so he spent a lot of money to build Shalu Mountain Villa, and many of the whimsies in it are said to be built by Lü Yaonong according to the "Mantis" and "Dream of the Red Chamber" and imitate the Suzhou garden. The entire manor is built on a mountain, layered on top of each other, and can be summarized as follows: a mountain spring, two walls, three levels, four gates, five rockeries, six houses, seven ponds, eight pavilions, and twelve crossings.
The manor is planted with a variety of flowers and trees, such as more than 300 kinds of dragon scale pine, and you can enjoy the flowers of the four seasons without leaving the mountain gate. In addition to the pavilions and pavilions, small bridges and flowing water, the mountain has also built rockeries and caves, which has added a lot of fun. In addition to the main building, there is a mountain amusement park of more than 20 hectares in the northeast of the villa, which is lined with trees, has a gate hall to ascend to the distance, and can see the panoramic view of the villa in the pavilion at the top.
3. Xiwen: Tens of thousands of books
Although Lü Taro Farmer is a warrior, but also a literati, so the villa was originally named "Shuren Bookstore", it is said that one of the initial purposes of Lü Taro Farmer's construction of the manor was to set up a school proverb and cultivate talents, and the villa once ran a school.
The link on the gate reads: "Andrea's book three cars entertain the white head, and then plant a hundred thousand famous flowers to embellish this green mountain", and the Tree People Hall also has a couplet: "The flowers are lustful and the fairy is half-horned, and the sound of books is often accompanied by the third change of the moon." ”
Unfortunately, the tens of thousands of books were destroyed in the 1960s and 1970s.
Epilogue: After liberation, a generation of dwarf generals Lü Yaonong was executed, and his 400-acre manor was confiscated, and later rebuilt, and now it has become a national key cultural relics protection unit and a national 4A-level tourist attraction.
