Columbia Pictures Corp. Columbia Samsung Pictures Group Columbia Tristar Motion Picture Group is a film sales company owned by Sony Pictures Entertainment Co., Ltd., consisting of two subsidiaries of Sony Pictures (USA) Co., Ltd. and Columbia Samsung International Film Distribution Company, responsible for the sale, distribution and promotion of SPE film products in the United States and 67 countries and regions around the world. Sony Pictures Entertainment's history in the film industry dates back to the founding of Columbia Pictures in 1924. At present, Columbia Film Group produces more than 30 films a year, and recent products include the "Spider-Man" series, "Elf Mouse Brother", "Thunderbolt Angel", "Kung Fu", "Da Vinci Code" and the first 007 series of movies "007 vs Casino Royale" and other well-known films that have been released in China. In terms of international film production, subsidiaries of Sony Pictures Entertainment Co., Ltd. include Asia Columbia Film Productions Co., Ltd. in Hong Kong, Colombian Spanish Film Productions in Madrid, and Columbia Pictures In Mexico in Mexico City. Sony Pictures Entertainment Limited also operates in the UK, Brazil and Japan. Columbia Pictures Group, with its eighty years of accumulation, is one of Hollywood's leading studios, with a library of more than 5,000 classic films, including 12 Academy Award winners for Best Picture. In 2005, Sony Pictures Entertainment Acquired MGM Pictures, another major Hollywood film company, for $4.8 billion, further establishing Columbia Pictures' leading position in Hollywood and the global film entertainment industry.

Film production and distribution companies. In 1920, the H. Cohen, J. Cohen brothers, and J. Brant, who had worked at Universal Pictures, founded a small company in Hollywood that produced comedy short films called the CBC Film Sales Company. It was renamed Columbia Pictures in 1924 and grew to become one of the 8 largest companies in the American film industry in the 1930s, largely due to H. Cohen's shrewdness and creative talent of the company's director F. Capra. Capra worked for the company for 10 years and produced a number of popular comedies, including One Night Out (1934), Mr. Diss (1936), and Mr. Smith on Washington (1939). In the 1950s, Columbia began to use the method of funding independent producers and directors to produce films. The company has sponsored some well-known directors to make films, such as S. Spiegel, D. Lane, O. Preminger, E. Cassan, R. Rosen and F. Zenaman, and produced many high-quality and influential films, such as "Born Yesterday" (1950), "Immortal" (1953), "On the Riverside" (1954), "Bridge on the River Kwai" (1957), "Lawrence of Arabia" (1962), "Guess Who Is Coming for Dinner" (1967) and so on. During the American film crisis of the 1950s and 1960s, Columbia, through its subsidiary, Screen Treasures, sold old films from the company to television stations and produced television films for television, becoming one of the first major companies in Hollywood to integrate with television. In 1968, the company was reorganized and renamed Columbia Film Industries, with two main branches, Columbia Film Company and Screen Treasures, and continued to engage in investment in independent production, television film production and the emerging videotape industry. In the 1980s, the company was affiliated with the American Coca-Cola Company.
Colombia in China
In 1995, the company set up a representative office in Beijing, China, becoming the first of the eight major Hollywood film companies to enter the Chinese film market and cooperate with Chinese film companies. In addition to introducing and promoting excellent Hollywood film works in China, the company is also actively engaged in cooperative shooting and overseas distribution and promotion of Chinese films.
