The Telegraph revealed Details of Liverpool's interception of Hudyaz: as long as Tottenham can meet, we can

The Telegraph revealed how Liverpool "hijacked" Luis Díaz's transfer deal from Tottenham Hotspur.

Early this Friday local time, Colombian striker Luis Díaz from Porto was thought to join Tottenham, however, in the last few days of white-hot negotiations, Luis Dias finally turned to Anfield. Moreover, tottenham and Liverpool give transfer fees and player salaries that are roughly the same.

The Telegraph said the deal was typically "backdoored" (backdoored" where club A's transfer to club B was hijacked by club C, who quietly appeared in negotiations through the backdoor.

Tottenham chairman Levy found out he had been used in the deal and threatened Fenway Sports executives John Henry and Mike Gordon to report Liverpool's recruitment department. Still, Fenway Sports' top brass is pleased with their strategy.

Liverpool were able to cut their mark on the sidelines of the deal on the basis that they understood Porto's financial problems, and the Reds had long been aware that Porto's delay in paying Serbian midfielder Grudzic's transfer fees had serious consequences.

From last fall until the end of the year, Porto were saying they would sell Luis Díaz (last year's Copa America's top scorer). Klopp identified Díaz as his first-choice signing and Liverpool began to show interest in him. Díaz's contract had a £80m buyout clause, and Porto set the price at £60m plus some additional terms. Liverpool were not interested in the asking price, saying they would meet with Porto after January to discuss the summer signing.

During this time, Porto told Liverpool that there were other teams interested in them and Levi stepped in. But Liverpool have said more than once that they are not interested in their offer, and the only requirement for Liverpool is that if Luiz's deal is reached, the Reds want to get the news quickly and tell the player's agent that if Tottenham hottest strikes a deal with Díaz, liverpool can meet whatever the terms.

In the end, Levi negotiated with Porto for Díaz for a transfer fee of £45 million, plus a £15 million add-on. In negotiating the additional terms, Levi engaged in a difficult bargain, as the additional terms were a difficult goal for Díaz to achieve. When Liverpool learned that the price was about to close, Ward, Edwards and Dave Fallos in the recruitment department quickly moved to get Fenway Sports to pay the fee.

Porto desperately needed a cash injection to pay for the due amount and demanded £8m by next Monday, Liverpool said they could do it, and Klopp subsequently spoke with Díaz and Porto agreed to the transfer.

For Tottenham president Levy and team manager Conte, luis Díaz is another important signing to miss after missing Adama Traore in this winter window.
