Zhang Haiyu was born in a literary and artistic family in Kaifeng, and his father was a professional storyteller. In 1979, at the age of 17, Zhang Haiyu put on a military uniform and became a literary and artistic worker in the army. In the 1980s, Zhang Haiyu transferred from the army to the Henan Provincial Mass Art Museum, and her figure is still active on the stage. In order to improve her musical literacy and enter a higher music hall, Zhang Haiyu was admitted to the Vocal Department of the China Conservatory of Music, and through professional systematic learning, she switched from bel canto singing to ethnic singing. In 1997, Zhang Haiyu stepped back from the front of the stage to the backstage, stepped off the stage, and stood on the podium of the Central Academy of Culture and Tourism Management.
Zhang Haiyu has made great academic achievements, and has published professional papers such as "Selected Songs of Soprano Practical Textbooks", "Demonstration of Vocal Teaching Basics", "Structure of Sound - Neglected Musical Rationality" and so on. He also served as a senior judge of the national (Beijing) art title, a judge of the National Stars Award, a judge of the National Committee on Aging Art Festival, and a judge of the China Farmers Art Festival.
