Gerrard or was dug into the wall, and Atletico Madrid took a fancy to Villa full-back Cassie in place of Trippier

After two and a half seasons for Atletico Madrid, Trippier left La Liga to join Newcastle United in the Premier League in the January transfer window.

The player helped Atletico win La Liga in a victory over Barcelona and Real Madrid last season.

After Trippier's departure, Atletico boss Simeone temporarily filled the gap left by the departure of England full-backs with Marcos Llorente and Vrsalico.

Spanish media reported that Simeone had taken a fancy to Premier League Aston Villa full-back Marty Cassi as a real replacement for Trippier. Marty Cassie has both offense and defense and can play a role on the offensive end, which is in line with Simeone's requirements.

Foreign media reported that Atletico had contacted the player's agent to discuss the player's potential transfer.

With the winter window closing, Atletico is likely to take real action this summer.

Marty Cassi is a Polish player aged 24. In September 2020, he joined Aston Villa from Nottingham Forest for £15 million.

To date, Marty Cassi has made 46 appearances for Villa, becoming a key player for the team.

But in the January winter window, Gerrard's Villa had already secured full-back Chambers in the transfer market, a player who looked like he could be a replacement for Marty Casey.

After Gerrard took over Villa from Dean Smith, he performed impressively in this winter transfer window. Villa signed three players, Lucas Digne, Coutinho and Chambers.

Villa may not want to lose Marty Cassi, but it does not rule out the idea that players will effectively imitate Trippier to La Liga and win La Liga. After all, Atletico are more competitive in La Liga than Villa in the Premier League.
