Located in the northwest of the Kowloon Peninsula, Sham Shui Po covers an area of about 1,047 hectares with a population of about 353,000 and is divided into 21 constituencies. Bordered by Sha Tin Lion Rock Country Park to the north, kowloon-canton railway (mTR East Rail Line) to the east, boundary street to the south and seaside to the west, including Shipyard Island, the district is one of the earliest development areas in Hong Kong and was also a hub for industry, commerce and industry.

There are two hospitals, one university (City University of Hong Kong), 80 schools, 3 community halls (Laguna, Baitian, Shek Kip Wai) and 4 community centres (Cheung Sha Wan, Tai Hang Tung, Nanchang, Lai Chi Kok).
