Since entering China for 15 years, Xing Jun has observed that the most important challenge in China's oral medical market is the contradiction between supply and demand.
According to the CCI Consulting Report, in 2019, there were about 210,000 general dentists in China, which is equivalent to 14.8 general dentists per 100,000 people, and according to this ratio, there are only 1.5 dentists per 10,000 people.
Xing Jun believes that the way to alleviate the contradiction between supply and demand may lie in digitalization. According to the "2020 China Dental Industry Digitalization Trend Report", "digitalization" is becoming an important trend in the future development of the dental industry. Kava Group also believes that digital innovation technology will have a huge impact and clinical value on the oral medical industry.
"Digitalization can help doctors serve more patients per unit of time. On the one hand, by improving the work efficiency of dentists, a dentist can serve more patients in a limited time; on the other hand, digitalization can bring more extensive and standardized oral diagnosis and treatment services by reducing the difficulty of some operations, and accelerate the improvement of young doctors' diagnosis and treatment capabilities. The accuracy of image acquisition, the accuracy of program design, and the accuracy of surgical implementation are all directions that digitalization can continue to research and develop. For the application of digitalization in oral diagnosis and treatment, Xing Jun said for example, when patients go to the clinic to take dental tablets, it involves the three-dimensional data collection technology of oral medicine digital. For example, if a patient has a tooth that needs to be implanted, it is necessary to design a patient-specific implant surgery plan, which involves computer-aided design technology; and finally to produce a unique crown that belongs to the patient, computer-aided manufacturing technology, such as 3D printing.
So, under the trend of digital transformation, is the cultivation of dentistry less important? Will machines replace labor in the future? Xing Jun's answer to this question was no. She believes that oral treatment is first and foremost a medical act, and doctors are very important from beginning to end.
