On February 1, 1935, He Yi gave birth to a boy in the Gannan Mountains of Jiangxi Province, named Mao Chucheng, also known as Mao Ancheng, and He Yi carried out underground work while carrying out underground work with his young children. On April 25 of the same year, Mao Zeqin led the independent division to be scattered, he led the remaining part of the guerrillas to a village, there was an enemy pursuit behind, Mao Zeqin and the others had nowhere to hide, so they stayed in the village overnight, and when they woke up the next day, the enemy had already chased after them, and the surrounding gunshots were loud.
Mao Zeqin took the lead in reacting and immediately ordered everyone to retreat, just like Chairman Mao's instructions, when encountering things and daring to charge, Mao Zeqin himself ran to a high ground to attract the enemy's firepower and buy time for his teammates to transfer, the enemy was menacing, Mao Zeqin was already difficult to break through, even so, he still insisted on fighting.
The enemy shot a bullet came, Mao Zeqin was shot in the right leg, another shot came, Mao Zeqin's left leg was shot again, he knelt on his knees on the ground, the muzzle of the gun aimed at the enemy, followed by another shot, Mao Zeqin was shot in the chest, fell on the grass beside him that had long been stained red, and died heroically.
