#Stories in the Barracks#

These were two female soldiers Liu Yaling and Liang Zi who had sneaked to the front line of Laoshan Mountain.

Liang Zi said in an interview on the Phoenix Satellite TV's "Cold and Warm Life" program: "I heard that there was a female soldier on the front line of Laoshan in the political department of the division, so I brought a few more packs of sanitary napkins, and followed the detachment that was given to me to secretly run to the front position of Laoshan, Liu Yaling was very indifferent to me, she did not pay attention to me at all, I took a picture of her and she closed her eyes to sleep." I gave her a pack of sanitary napkins, and only then did I start communicating, Liu Yaling sneaked to the front line of Laoshan Mountain, she was afraid that I reported out, and the hospital leaders knew that they were worried with their families...! ”。

After graduating from the nursing training class of the Fourth Military Medical University, Liu Yaling took the initiative to request to be assigned to the Army's 67th Field Hospital (stationed in Wenshan Prefecture), which is the rear and rear front of the front line, and is also the nearest military hospital to the Laoshan Battlefield. However, Liu Yaling believed that the sound of gunfire and smoke could not be heard here, and repeatedly applied to the hospital leaders to go to the front line of Laoshan without approval. Liu Yaling had a clever move and submitted a report to the hospital leaders on leave to visit her relatives at home, and she used the "family visit" time to take the army's life car and secretly ran to the front position of Laoshan.

The harsh climatic conditions and harsh living environment of the Laoshan battlefield made the male soldiers unbearable, could Liu Yaling, a female soldier, suffer this kind of suffering? Liu Yaling examined and treated the skin disease of the comrades-in-arms one by one during the day, bandaged the wounds of the wounded, and slept and rested on the edge of the cat's ear hole at night. Swarms of "Vietnamese imported poisonous mosquitoes" flew into the cat's ear piercing and bit her bare skin, red, inflamed, swollen and itchy, yellow and suppurative. Especially in the menstrual period, there is no sanitary napkin, which is both afraid of being seen by male soldiers and very uncomfortable. Just when Liang Zi gave her a pack of sanitary napkins to solve the urgent need, the two began to communicate and deepen their feelings for a photo interview.

One night the Vietnamese launched a sneak attack, after a fierce gunshot, Liu Yaling carried the medicine box and rushed to the position, found that the acting platoon leader Xu Liang's leg was pierced by bullets and bleeding, she immediately used a triangle scarf first aid kit to bandage him to stop the bleeding, and escorted him to the rear hospital for amputation overnight to save his life.

Liu Yaling forgot that she was "visiting relatives" and fought for 46 days in the front position of Laoshan, 26 days of super leave, seriously violated the iron discipline of the troops, and was severely warned and punished by the party. Soon, the Political Department of the 47th Army sent people to the 67th Field Hospital of the Army and asked the party committee of the hospital to report for Liu Yaling's first-class merit.

Liang Zi was born in 1961 in a military family in Beijing, and at the age of 16, he went to a military nursing home in Shaanxi Province as a hygienist, and after a small medical accident, he changed his career to a projectionist and began to fall in love with photography. After being admitted to the Journalism Department of the Nanjing Institute of Political Science of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, after graduation, he was assigned to the Propaganda Department of the Political Department of the 139th Division of the 47th Army as a photography officer.

In December 1985, Liang Zi accompanied his troops to southern Xinjiang to participate in the Battle of Laoshan, and on April 30, 1986, the 139th Division officially succeeded the 199th Division as the main peak of Laoshan, the 662.6 highland in the direction of Songmaoling, and dozens of highlands in the direction of Nala. The command post of the 139th Division was set up at Mangun Cave at the foot of Laoshan Mountain, and division commander Huang Junjie and political commissar Liu Dongdong did not let her go to the front for the safety of Liangzi. Liang Zi repeatedly asked Zhan zhan and said, "I am engaged in photography work, how can I take pictures when I go to the front-line position?" But the chief still did not approve her to go to the position.

Liang Zi prepared a camera, film, sanitary napkins and "glory bombs", followed the detachment to the front line, and when passing through the "100-meter death line", she "flew" as fast as the male soldiers. She went to the front line to live with Liu Yaling in a cat ear hole, Liang Zi thought that the first object of the interview and photo was Liu Yaling, but Liu Yaling just ignored him, Liang Zi bribed her with a pack of sanitary napkins, and then they began to communicate and cooperate with the photo interview.

During the "Lanjian B Operation" on October 14, 1986 and the "Operation Black Panther" on January 7, 1987, Liang Zi followed the commando team to shoot the heroic and tenacious comrades-in-arms at close range, desperately killing the enemy and fighting bloody battles, leaving more than 3,500 valuable photos for posterity, and the division party committee recorded the second class merit for Liang Zi. Liang Zi wrote and published the book "An Open Diary" after the war.
