This year's severe winter month, the cold is freezing, the epidemic situation in Xi'an is very severe, and it is imminent to rush to help fight the epidemic. The epidemic is the order, and the responsibility is the responsibility. In accordance with the spirit of the instructions of the superiors, on December 31, 2021, the Affiliated Hospital of Shaanxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine immediately dispatched 67 medical personnel with high political standing and strong professional ability to form a medical team to assist the designated hospital in Xi'an. Teacher Lei Genping, deputy secretary of the party committee, vice president of the hospital and veteran who has fought on the anti-epidemic front in Wuhan, put on the armor and led the team to go out again. Before leaving, Teacher Yan Yongmei, the president of our encephalopathy hospital, gathered the 9 medical staff drawn from our encephalopathy hospital together, gave me thousands of instructions, and said to everyone in a serious tone: "After you go, you must strictly follow the operating procedures, absolutely do a good job of personal protection, absolutely ensure your own safety, after the completion of the task, make sure that everyone gives me a safe return." You don't have to worry about things in your family, with our staff in the hospital taking turns to take care of it, you can go with confidence! ”
On the evening of the arrival of the Xi'an medical team in the Affiliated Hospital of Shaanxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, we received the task of taking over the fourteen wards of Xi'an Chest Hospital. We have 67 medical staff grouped, 2 doctors and 7 nurses in each group. There are four shifts during the day and night, with commuting hours at 2 and 8 o'clock every day and night, and each shift works in the ward for 6 hours. The round trip takes about three hours to put on and take off protective clothing and handover shifts. When we return to the hotel, disinfection, bathing, washing clothes, etc., take more time to complete, each shift, we need to work intensely and orderly for about 10 hours to rest. Each meal can be spaced around 12 hours apart. In order to facilitate operation, prevent infection, and not affect the progress of normal nursing work, most medical staff do not wear thick clothes when they go to work, only an autumn coat and a thin coat. There are more than forty patients in the ward, and after each group of doctors who work take over, they must first conduct detailed rounds, as far as possible to avoid delaying treatment because their observation is not meticulous and do not find changes in the patient's condition, and repeatedly patiently enlighten and comfort patients who are emotionally unstable to help them build confidence in overcoming the disease. In the absence of a companion, a caregiver, or a cleaner, the workload of nurses is particularly large. During the work period, it is necessary to mop the floor, kill, care, take out the garbage, but also to receive meals, deliver meals, distribute meals to patients, help elderly patients to eat, take care of young patients to eat and take medicine, and every nurse is tired and sweaty. There is no medical staff lounge in the ward, only a short break in the corridor, the corridor has no heating, only rely on an electric heater for heating. During the interval, the wet clothes were cold and cold against the body, which was unbearable. One afternoon, Zhang Huan, a nurse in the operating room of our hospital, due to stomach discomfort, hunger, cold, and fatigue, she really couldn't walk, so she leaned on the corner of the ward corridor, sat on the cold cement floor for a while, and then threw herself into intense work. The requirements for taking off protective clothing after work are very strict, and they need to queue up in turn to take off one by one, and they must not contact each other to avoid contact with infection. It takes nearly two hours for each shift of medical staff to take off their protective clothing. While waiting for each other, they walked on the cold and windy road, sitting in the unair-conditioned shuttle bus, shivering with cold. On this cold day when the water turns into ice, every day of watching over each other, we Chinese medicine practitioners at the Affiliated Hospital of Shaanxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine are experiencing a severe test, and we are practicing the most sonorous and powerful vows with our moral iron shoulders!
One morning, I received a WeChat message from a classmate saying: "You wear protective clothing and have the most erect body in the world; you wear goggles and have the most beautiful face in the world; you wrap the sun and moon in your chest and carry your expectations on your shoulders." Xiao Na, you have to be strong, tired, bitter don't cry, I praise you for watching over each other! I replied to her: "I'm calm, I don't cry." Thank you! "In fact, I have also cried, in the face of the pressure of medical staff wearing masks and goggles for a long time, resulting in facial skin damage, endured pain and insisted on working, in the face of the helpless expressions and expectations of elderly patients and young patients, tears are sometimes uncontrollable. On the morning of January 4, 2022, during the rounds, I saw a three-year-old girl in the hospital room snuggled in her mother's arms and cried: "I don't eat, I don't eat, I want to play, I want to play..." "Seeing this scene, I suddenly remembered that on the same day that we set off, my husband Li Tianhao led 68 medical staff from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Shaanxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine to help another designated hospital in Xi'an, Chang'an District Hospital. There is only my 3-year-old daughter and her 12-year-old brother at home, thinking back to the usual every night I accompany my daughter to sleep, I suddenly left, I don't know if she can get used to it? I remembered the night before I went out, my daughter hugged me and said, "Mom, I love you very much, I really want to bite you, but I don't want to, I think you hurt, because you love me, you have to buy me good food every day." This scene appeared in front of my eyes, a pile of past events came to my mind, and suddenly, I was completely out of control, I turned and walked out of the ward, tears in my eyes. At this time, the tears have put a layer of fog on the goggles, and the eyes are blurred, but I remind myself that the fight against the epidemic does not need tears, what is needed is that we need to support with strength, what we need is to soothe with love, and what is more needed is for each of us medical staff to fulfill the duty of the angel in white.
Rushing to help fight the epidemic, I deeply feel that the burden on my shoulders is heavier than ever. There is always a question that haunts my mind, what should I do if I have an infection in the hospital? Because if one person is infected, it will not only affect their own safety, but more importantly, it will affect the entire team, and all the staff will be evacuated from their jobs, which will have a great impact on winning the battle against the epidemic. One of the words I was most afraid to hear was, "×× team has withdrawn!" "So I always remind myself that I must be responsible for the party and the people, for our team, and for myself and my family." Therefore, when putting on and taking off protective clothing, strictly follow the operation process, but often worry that if you are careless in that link, it will lead to infection in the hospital. I remember the day after I went to work, when I wore protective clothing, I always felt that my collar was not tightly wrapped. After work, I repeatedly rubbed my neck with alcohol, because alcohol stimulated skin allergies, my throat had a dry itching feeling for several days, which also caused the skin of my neck to dry and crack, and when I touched it with my hands, the skin was rough like an elm bark. Since then, every time I enter the ward to wear protective clothing, I have to let Cui Ping and the hospital nurse carefully help me to check and sort out repeatedly, and confirm that there is no problem before entering the ward with confidence.
On January 6, 2022, we discharged the first seven patients who met the discharge criteria. The first batch of patients were cured and discharged from the hospital, which allowed us to see the harvest of everyone's hard work in the past few days, bringing a ray of light to patients who continued to receive treatment, and also giving great encouragement to medical staff and patients. Since then, there have been hospitals for patients every day. When patients walk out of the ward and face the medical staff who are fighting day and night on the front line of the fight against the epidemic, they clasp their hands in fists and bow deeply to show their gratitude! He kept saying, "You've worked hard!" Come on Xi'an! This prostration is a tribute to life, and this prostration is a tribute to life with life! At this time, although we feel that the work is very hard, we are very pleased.
In the middle of January, the spread of the epidemic in Xi'an was effectively curbed, and the number of cases increased hovered in single digits, but the medical staff had to continue to persist in the treatment work. In order to rationally rectify human resources in the province, when we were preparing to leave work at one o'clock at noon on January 14, we received instructions from our superiors that 10 patients in Chang'an District Hospital need to be transferred to the ward we manage for treatment. To arrange so many inpatients at a time, the workload for the doctors on duty is too great, in order to alleviate the work pressure of the doctors on duty and ensure that each patient is arranged quickly and smoothly, Director Shi Jie let the doctors on the morning shift continue to stay behind to carry out their work. Therefore, she and I had to work overtime. In this situation of hunger and cold, it is really unbearable to go to work in a continuous rotation. When it was four o'clock in the afternoon, ten hours before the last meal time, I felt hungry, at the moment I felt that talking was a kind of physical exertion, but I did not want to tell others, I felt that this difficulty should be overcome, just quietly alone without making a sound. However, Director Shi Jie shouldered a number of tasks such as contact, arrangement, management, etc., due to the tension and busyness coupled with cold, hunger and fatigue, at about 5 p.m., she felt that her eyes were dark and weak. In order not to affect the work, she washed her hands, turned and walked out, in a relatively safe place, ate a chocolate to support, continued to work until 8 o'clock in the evening to return to the hotel to rest, so she endured hunger and insisted on fighting for 14 hours before eating a meal.
Without military trumpets and smoke, we medical personnel are walking on the brink of danger; without the light of the sword and the shadow of the sword, we medical personnel defend the dignity of life. This is the responsibility of our medical staff, and this is the backbone of our Shaanxi Chinese medicine people! We, the Shaanxi Chinese medicine people, show our heroic qualities in the critical moment, and in the face of the epidemic, we are even more responsible. Under the leadership of Captain Lei Genping, we have not failed to live up to the trust of the party and the people, the trust and support of the leaders, and after more than 20 days of hard work, we have won this anti-epidemic prevention and control battle at the fastest speed, and won the victory on January 28, 2022! In the land of the Three Qins of the motherland, an ancient and prosperous nation is united in one heart and one mind, which embodies the tenacity and great love of a country. This is the most authentic China, our motherland.
