Courteney Cox talks publicly about becoming a teenage mom.

The 57-year-old actress is the mother of her 17-year-old daughter, Coco, who shared the daughter with her ex-husband, David Arquette.

As the Friends alumni prepare to become empty-nesters, she tells People magazine about her motherhood and her relationship with Coco.

"I haven't thought about it yet!" The actress talked about her daughter leaving home one day. "I wouldn't even come here if I hadn't registered her. Also, she doesn't come here very often – let's be clear. She went out for a spin. It wasn't a girl sitting at home, and if she was, she was in her room, closing the door. ”

The star said her own mother set a good example for her.

"My mom and I were really close. She's my best friend," Cox gushed. "Coco and I have this. She told me everything. ”

Although they were very close, Cox and her daughter did face tension and arguments from time to time.

"We fight. I know boundaries are important and keep them because I know it makes her feel safe," the "screaming" star said. "But I'm not always good at boundaries. I'm exhausted. ”

She added: "You have to choose your fight and decide what matters. ”

Today, Cox and Arquette married from 1999 to 2013 and raise their only child together. The best part, Cox says, is "when you're not arguing about things."

"When there's no 'can I have her this holiday?' It's not like, 'Well, that's my vacation.' 'No, it doesn't matter,' the star explained. "Whatever she wants to do, she can do whatever she wants. There has never been an argument about such a thing. I think it's really important. ”

For now, Cox enjoys spending time with Coco, who will turn 18 in June.

"I think she's funny and I love hanging out with her," the actress said of her not-so-small girl. "I love when she needs me. She's funny. You'll never be mad at her for too long. Coco is a very good apologist. I should save her text messages. The girl can solve any problem in her own way. ”
