October 5, 1985 was a heavy day, and Liang Xingchu, the commander of the "Banzai Army", who was about to be discharged from the hospital, suddenly suffered a heart attack and died after the rescue was ineffective. Liang Xingchu experienced many major events in the history of the mainland throughout his life, and made great contributions to the establishment of a new China and the consolidation of the mainland's international status.
After Liang Xingchu's death, his wife Ren Guilan remembered her husband's unfulfilled wish in her sadness, when the central leaders asked Ren Guilan what needed help, Ren Guilan did not put forward any personal requests, only put forward this wish, the central government immediately issued instructions: agree!
Since then, Ren Guilan has embarked on a 16-year-long journey, and his footprints have almost covered the landscapes and rivers of the motherland.
What was Liang Xingchu's wish before he was born? Why is Ren Guilan willing to run around for more than ten years?

First, the stubborn "little blacksmith" of the horse life
Liang Xingchu was born on August 23, 1912 in Ji'an, Jiangxi Province, to an excellent blacksmith, but despite his excellent craftsmanship, his salary was too small to make a living. Liang Xingchu followed his father at a very young age, working around, and later became an apprentice in a blacksmith shop.
After Liang Xingchu later joined the revolution, he often said that his childhood experience as a blacksmith laid the foundation for his subsequent revolutionary career. In the years of his apprenticeship, although Liang Xingchu worked very hard, he was often scolded for no reason, which made him think about where the "way out for the poor" was and how he could change this tragic world.
When Liang Xingchu was 18 years old, he saw the spirited Red Army for the first time, and he immediately realized that joining the army was the direction he had been looking for.
In 1930, Liang Xingchu became a member of the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army, and not long after joining the army, he participated in the Longgang Ambush, even if the enemy was outnumbered, he was not afraid in the battle, and cooperated perfectly with many veterans who had been in the battlefield for a long time, and fought until the last moment.
After this battle, Liang Xingchu served as the head of the communication squad and submitted an application to join the party, officially joining the party in November of the same year and embarking on his own revolutionary journey.
Liang Xingchu, who had begun to show his sharp edge in the Longgang ambush battle, soon annihilated the enemy's cavalry team with his superior strategic thinking and bravery, and became the leader of the first cavalry reconnaissance company of our army.
On the battlefield of ruthless swords and guns, Liang Xingchu started from an ordinary warrior and grew up step by step, he always charged forward in battle, and was seriously injured many times, and his life was hanging in the balance.
In the Battle of Huangpi, the bullet shot through Liang Xingchu's cheek, and in an instant, his face was full of blood, and he still insisted on commanding the battle with gestures. Until the end of the battle, Liang Xingchu, who had lost too much blood, fainted on the position and remained unconscious for four days before waking up.
After experiencing major historical events such as the agrarian revolution, the War of Resistance Against Japan, the Long March, and the War of Liberation, that stubborn little blacksmith has become an excellent general who has experienced hundreds of battles.
After the founding of the Country, in the face of the threat of the US military and the help of the DPRK, the mainland resolutely sent troops. General Liang Xingchu led the Thirty-eighth Army into the Korean War, and on the Korean battlefield, Liang Xingchu meticulously formulated strategies and tactics, and used the methods of dividing and encircling and roundabout attacks to annihilate all the enemy and pseudo-seventh divisions, fighting a beautiful battle that made people boil with blood, and provided a guarantee for the war on the entire Western Front.
Peng Dehuai personally wrote a commendation order for the Thirty-eighth Army, saying, "Long live the Chinese People's Volunteer Army!" Long live the Thirty-eighth Army! Therefore, Liang Xingchu was also known as "Commander of the Long Live Army".
Second, wartime love
Compared with General Liang Xingchu's "spring breeze triumph" on the battlefield, emotionally he experienced some ups and downs.
Liang Xingchu had two wives, the first of whom was named Li Guifen. Li Guifen lost her father at an early age, and lived with her mother since childhood, in that era of war, the hardships of the life of mother and daughter can be imagined, but Li Guifen did not have the timidity of a weak woman, she took the initiative to learn medical skills, and when the country needed it, she resolutely went to the front line and became a field medical worker.
Liang Xingchu and Li Guifen met and knew each other on the front line in this way, and soon entered the palace of marriage, but because of the war, the two gathered less and left more. Even if they can't see each other from time to time, the relationship between the husband and wife is still very harmonious. But things were uncertain, and just when New China had seen the dawn of victory, Li Guifen suffered from lung disease.
In 1947, Li Guifen died of ineffective medical treatment, and although Liang Xingchu suffered great pain in his heart, he still commanded the soldiers to fight strongly. In the dead of night, he would often take out his close-knit photos, nostalgic for the short but precious time with Li Guifen, and several times the guards saw him wiping tears alone, trying to persuade but not knowing how to open his mouth.
Fate is always so wonderful, in the Black Mountain sniper war, Liang Xingchu met Ren Guilan, who came to the position for medical support. Although the two did not know each other's names and identities when they first met, Liang Xingchu always felt that the girl in front of him was so familiar.
At that time, Ren Guilan had just been transferred to the battlefield with the 28th Division, waiting outside the door of the Ministry of Health for a report, and she was shivering with the cold wind in the northeast. Just when Liang Xingchu came out of the headquarters and saw this thin female nurse, he instructed the guards around him to find a cotton coat for the little nurse to wear. Then Liang Xingchu left the Ministry of Health, and after Ren Guilan got the cotton clothes, he thought that the guards were taking care of himself and quickly thanked him.
Soon after, the Montenegrin sniper battle began, and Liang Xingchu led the 10th Column to intercept Liao Yaoxiang's corps in Montenegro. The treacherous terrain of Montenegro and the harsh weather made this "hard-to-head" battle extremely fierce and extremely difficult.
The wounded soldiers continued to withdraw from the front line to the rear infirmary, where Ren Guilan fought his own battle.
At that time, the weather was too bad, and many of the wounded were frozen to death before they could be treated, Liang Xingchu saw it in his eyes and was anxious in his heart, and he returned to the medical center from the position to check the wounded.
As soon as I entered the door of the infirmary, I heard the groaning of a small soldier lying in the courtyard waiting for treatment, and the little soldier was frozen to the point that his lips were purple and his whole body was trembling.
Liang Xingchu hurriedly took off his coat and covered it for the little warrior, but there was only one coat, and there were many frozen warriors. Then he saw a young nurse wrap a red-hot tile on a mat and place it on the warrior's feet, and asked softly, "Do you feel warmer?" The little warrior felt the warmth beneath his feet and nodded gratefully.
The nurse's tactful approach attracted The attention of Liang Xingchu, who took a closer look, was this not the female soldier who was frozen and shivering that day? He stepped forward and said, "Your method is very good!" ”
Ren Guilan, who was concentrating on caring for the wounded, did not hear Liang Xingchu's words at first, and after returning to his senses, he quickly said that this was all his own doing.
After this simple conversation, Liang Xingchu knew Ren Guilan's name, and looking at her extraordinarily kind smile, Liang Xingchu's inner glacier seemed to have begun to melt. But the war was tense, Liang Xingchu did not have time to think carefully and returned to the headquarters, until after the victory of the Black Mountain sniper, Liang Xingchu, who had been rotating the axis for a long time, suddenly felt that his heart was empty, and Ren Guilan's smile constantly appeared in his heart.
Liang Xingchu, who was decisive and straightforward, went to the 28th Division many times, hoping to look at Ren Guilan a few times, and these small actions naturally failed to hide the eyes of political commissar Zhou Chiping. The careful Zhou Chiping sensed Liang Xingchu's intentions, and when Liang Xingchu suffered from eye diseases because of years of combat, he took the initiative to let Ren Guilan be responsible for treating Liang Xingchu's eyes.
With a long time together, Liang Xingchu was more and more attracted to the seemingly weak but tenacious girl in front of him, so he took the initiative to express his heart and put forward the idea of hoping to marry Ren Guilan as a revolutionary partner.
The simple Ren Guilan thought that there was no difference between the revolutionary partner and the revolutionary comrades, and he agreed very happily. When Liang Xingchu heard it, he was instantly happy, and he knew in his heart that the girl in front of him might not understand his own meaning, so he asked her to go back and think about it before replying.
After Ren Guilan returned to the Ministry of Health, he asked his comrades-in-arms what it meant to be a revolutionary partner. After listening to the explanation of her comrades-in-arms, she suddenly realized that in her heart, she already had Liang Xingchu's shadow.
After a period of getting along, under the impetus of the political commissar, Liang Xingchu and Ren Guilan were officially married in September 1949.
Third, after marriage, they stay together and rely on each other
Shortly after their marriage, Liang Xingchu crossed the Yalu River with Marshal Peng Dehuai, and entered the Korean War with great enthusiasm, and the newlyweds had to separate again, and could only rely on letters to exchange hearts.
In 1954, Liang Xingchu led the "Long Live Army" to return triumphantly, and the husband and wife finally got together and lived the stable life they dreamed of.
Although Liang Xingchu has been in poor health because of the perennial war, under the careful care of Ren Guilan, the two are also living happily.
In 1973, the organizational general Liang Xingchu was transferred to work at the Yijing Chemical Factory in Taiyuan, Shanxi, and ren Guilan, after learning about it, decided to apply to go to the countryside to work together in order to take care of her husband, so the two moved from the city to the countryside.
Although Liang Xingchu was a military hero, he did not have the shelf of a general, and he worked diligently with the workers on weekdays, and the workers in the factory got along well with him. Ren Guilan also often treats workers, and when she encounters elderly people who are inconvenient to move, she will also take the initiative to come to the door for treatment, and the couple has a very good reputation in the local area, and also has a deep relationship with Taiyuan.
During his time in the factory, Liang Xingchu has been collecting various materials, and wants to write a memoir in his lifetime to commemorate the glory days when he and his comrades-in-arms fought side by side, leaving some memories for future generations. Whenever he had free time, Liang Xingchu would sort out the historical facts he had collected, and unconsciously he was already filled with nineteen wooden boxes.
In 1979, Liang Xingchu returned to Beijing after finishing his labor plan, and the couple bid farewell to their co-workers and embarked on the way home with very little luggage and a full truckload of materials. Who knew that there was a car accident on the way back, the car instantly ignited a fire, Liang Xingchu's years of hard work were reduced to ashes in the fire, and the misfortune was that neither of them was injured, after all, there was nothing more important than the safety of the two generals.
After returning to Beijing, Liang Xingchu voluntarily chose to retire due to physical reasons.
After his retirement, General Liang Xingchu has always had several wishes to fulfill, one is to be able to write his own memoirs; the other is to move into a new home with his wife; and the third is to hear his grandson call himself "Grandpa". Regrettably, even these ordinary careful wishes, Liang Xingchu failed to achieve his wishes.
After returning to Beijing, Liang Xingchu's physical condition deteriorated, and he often had to be hospitalized because of minor problems, and Ren Guilan has been very careful to take care of her husband.
In September 1985, General Liang Xingchu got the keys to his new home, but he was only one step away from moving into the new home, but he was admitted to the hospital because he had a serious cold.
After nearly a month of treatment, Liang Xingchu had a significant improvement, and Ren Guilan happily calculated with her husband that she would move into a new home together when she was discharged from the hospital in October, and then continue to write her memoirs. But the plan could not catch up with the change, and just as the family was preparing to discharge Liang Xingchu the next day, the general suddenly had a heart attack.
At that time, it was late at night, the attending doctor of General Liang Xingchu was not in the hospital, and the emergency doctor on duty did not understand Liang Xingchu's condition and did not take the best rescue measures in time, and General Liang Xingchu unfortunately died at the age of 73.
This incident was too sudden, Ren Guilan could not accept it for a while, she sat in the corridor of the hospital and cried, even Liang Xingchu's old comrades-in-arms could not believe Liang Xingchu's sudden death, and asked for further examination of the cause of death, suspecting that there was a medical accident.
After Ren Guilan calmed down, she decided to abandon the investigation, because she knew that her husband, who had been running all his life, must want to complete the last road safely and steadily. On October 12 of the same year, general Liang Xingchu's ashes were buried in Babaoshan, Beijing.
Fourth, complete the husband's last wish
After Ren Guilan finished her husband's funeral, she thought of the memoirs he had been thinking about before his death, and decided to help her husband fulfill his wishes, so he asked the central government to continue to complete the memoirs of General Liang Xingchu, which was approved by the central government.
In the following 16 years, in order to collect information on her husband's wartime, Ren Guilan traveled all over the corners of the motherland, where Liang Xingchu fought, where liang Xingchu fought, where liang Xingchu's old comrades-in-arms had appeared in her home, and she expressed her thoughts about her husband in her own unique way.
According to records, the historical data collected by Ren Guilan has exceeded 40 kilograms. These materials have allowed future generations to see the blood of the war, and also let the world remember the responsibility of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
After unremitting efforts, the 400,000-word "Commanding the Long Live army" finally came out, which records how General Liang Xingchu came from Ji'an, Jiangxi Province step by step, how the revolutionary ancestors fought for the motherland in the rain of bullets and bullets, and even more recorded the tribulations experienced by the sons and daughters of China.
Today, under the sun, we must remember history and remember that today's happiness was bought with the lives of yesterday's ancestors! We must cherish the present and strive for tomorrow!
