Dongguan, China, October 22 (Cheng Jingwei, Lin Yin) The Guangdong Forestry Bureau held the launching ceremony of the 2021 Guangdong Migratory Bird Protection Action with the theme of "Meet in Guangdong Feiyu Yue Moment" in Huayang Lake National Wetland Park in Dongguan City on the 22nd. More than 100 people from 14 bird watching associations in the province, bird watching enthusiasts and bird lovers from all walks of life, as well as responsible persons of relevant departments and offices of the Guangdong Forestry Bureau, attended the launching ceremony.
This year marks the third year of the Guangdong Migratory Bird Protection Campaign. In order to further promote the protection of migratory birds in autumn and winter, the Guangdong Forestry Bureau issued a relevant notice in early October this year, requiring all localities to strictly implement the Five-Year Ban on the Hunting of Wild Birds by the Guangdong Provincial Government, increase the patrol of migratory bird breeding grounds, migratory flight stops, relocation and flight channels and other wildlife cluster activity areas, and timely clean up all kinds of hunting tools used for illegal hunting of birds and other wild animals. At the same time, it is necessary to increase law enforcement supervision, give full play to the role of the interdepartmental joint conference system to combat illegal trade in wild animals and plants, encourage the reporting of various illegal and criminal acts that damage wild animal and plant resources, standardize artificial breeding and business utilization, and effectively improve the level of biodiversity conservation.

As an important migratory bird migration and wintering resting place in the world, Guangdong has built a good regional biodiversity conservation, providing a comfortable habitat for birds such as herons, ducks, gulls, and sandpipers every year, and constantly promoting harmonious coexistence between man and nature. Of the five migratory bird migration routes in China, two pass through Guangdong, and two of the three East Asian migratory bird migration routes that pass through China.
At present, a new round of migratory bird migration season has arrived. Guangdong Shaoguan Danxiashan National Nature Reserve ushered in the autumn migratory bird population, since late August this year, the spot-billed duck, white-browed duck, black-winged sandpiper and other birds from the southeast of Northeast Asia have been monitored, and the Danxia Mountain bird observation record has been refreshed to 231 species. At the same time, the first batch of black-faced spoonbills that overwinter this year have also flown to Shenzhen, in addition to egrets, pond herons and other resident birds, as of October 16, there are also migratory birds such as black-tailed sandpipers, red-footed sandpipers, black-winged long-legged sandpipers, golden-spotted sandpipers and more than 20 species, accumulating more than 1,000.
The event also launched the Guangdong Province 2021 Black-faced Spoonbill and other rare waterbird protection publicity projects, and awarded flags to 11 organizational units. From October to the end of December, 11 cities in Guangdong Province will successively carry out simultaneous surveys and self-organized surveys of rare waterbirds such as black-faced spoonbills, during which information on all wild birds will be recorded and surveyed, including species, numbers, habitats, etc.
The 14 bird watching associations from Guangdong Province will continue to do a good job in monitoring and protecting migratory birds, jointly carry out the action of protecting migratory birds for the whole people, and contribute to the protection of the safety of migratory bird migration routes by condensing the wisdom and consensus of all sectors of society.
